I have a full stainless works exhaust system. long tube headers, high flow cats, mufflers. I don't like the sound the mufflers produce, its to glass pack sounding. I'm looking for more of a throaty sound. It looks like from older post everyone is running Magnaflows.

I just did Kooks headers X-pipe with high flow cats and Borla Pro-XS mufflers. And it sounds awesome. Quiet not to ode at idel. And sound kind of quiet. When you are cruising. But get on it and they make a beautiful sound. That is a smile to any car owner. And not that screaming pull me over officer sound.

Throaty sounds like old school muscle cars don't really come from mod motors. I agree, I don't like raspy either, I'm going to switch to an h pipe from the x pipe which helps some.

I had a stainless works full exhaust as well , and it sounded terrible , i sold the exhaust, and built a custom 3" exhaust system with an H pipe , and MagnaFlow mufflers, the difference is night, and day it now sounds extremely deep , and throaty, as compared to raspy , and azz sounding with the stainless works exhaust , you can't go wrong with MagnaFlow , or Borla.

Nobody can really call a best muffler since everybody's idea of what sounds good is different, but I still back Black Widow Venom 250s. They sound pretty throaty, but have more of a "wail" to them too.

thanks for the replies!! I'm hoping just changing the mufflers will put a smile on my face. I'm going to gut the cats as well since the engine light came for cat efficiency so made eliminators for the O2 monitors

The best mufflers are whatever sounds good to you.
Aero Turbine, Magnaflow, and Borla are straight-thru design, Flowmaster is chambered design, can't go wrong with any of them.

Magnaflows were awesome on my 04'. They had a fantastic sound but were mellow enough when I hauled clients around for work I never had a single complaint.

unfortunately no one has really liked the SW pipe/muffler kit..The headers are fine/excellent. At this point you can pretty much put in any muffler you like in that space..many like Magnaflow here. Also remember that you will need a tune with the long tubes installed if you haven't gotten one at the moment. I'm pretty sure you shouldn't be driving it with factory tune and long tubes..You'll get a code for o2 sensors and may make the car run poor or overheat the cats.

My new (to me) Marauder is a bit too loud and has pretty bad drone. I looked under... No muffler at all, straight piped. I want something, leaning towards Magnaflow. What do these cars need as far as inlet pipe locations? The best option I've found so far is a center inlet offset outlet reversible Magnaflow, and just let the guys at the muffler shop figure it out. Is our stock pipes 2 inch or 2.25?

Stock muffler configuration is 2.25" side inlet/center outlet. Before you do anything, can you get a video up? That sounds awesome!!!

You weren't kidding, that's LOUD. I like it, but I'm still young and crazy. Hope everything goes well with what you're planning!

Hoping for something subtle in calm daily driving, but with a bit of a roar when I get on it. It's a 2 hr drive to the VA in Indianapolis for my Dr appointments, and I'd rather enjoy my music a bit more when in easy cruise mode.
