How much nitrous will a stock marauder handle will it take a 100 shot without forged pistons? Who is doing it and what times you runing?
My car will have cold air intake, pullies 4.10 gears and a tuner and plugs and t-stat when it is sprayed if I do it
Can I hit a 12 second time in the quarter mile?

The answer you seek can be found via the search function.
A quick answer from a NON nitrous user:
Your safe to about 125 shot.
Upper 12's are very possible with lots of bolt ons. See CRUZTAKER on this site. He recently hit mid 12's w/ his NOS injected heavily modded Marauder.

03 Marauder(stock motor) with 4.10's, DR's, Tranny, T/C, Intake spacer, and a tune with a 125 shot is running 13.1 with 2.0 60' times, still spinning outa the hole. 12's easy with a little traction.

Yes it will handle the 100 hp shot, just a suggestion though, have your tuner programed for a 4 or 6 degree retard on your timing if you plan on going up to the 125..Traction, traction, traction, will be your biggest problem after that..

I believe you could have said traction a couple of more times and still not conveyed the true need. Last year, a lawyer friend (oxymoron?:P ) hit the button on his Marauder about 100 feet out (100hp Zex as I recall) and promptly swung the rear end out from under the car and I was staring at driver's face and Marauder grill from the stands. He recovered- nice driving but it is an incident engraved into my memory. The track was pretty sticky that day too. :burnout:

I was planing on hitting it about 60-75 feet out, I know I will not hook it out of the hole on DR's. I have a friend talking trash about his bolt on 5.0 mustang runig high 12's and I want to show up at the track and hopefully hang with him. My wife said install the N02 if I can get close to him I dont think I will beat him.

Okay, here's the plan:
You should seek out Barry (Cruztaker)- read all his posts-get to know him- embrace his habits-gain his trust- steal his secrets- exploit his experience-
THEN chase and maybe beat the Mustang.

There are cars in the 8's running drag radials. You need to get BFG Drag Radials to have the best hook. With a set of rear control arms as well, hitting it out of the chute is no big deal.

If I am not mistaken there are kits that are progressive and do not dump the full 75, 100, or 125 at first but steady increase by time or rpm (I do not know which)...is there such a thing and if there is wouldn't that help with out of the hole and also be a little easier on our trannys, engines and drivetrains?...willie

My car, before the S/C, had run a 12.68 with a 125 shot. It had 4.10 gears, JLT intake, DR tune and underdrives. This was done with the factory tires set to about 30 PSI. My 60' time was 1.8x. I juiced it after about a car length out of the hole.
Is it safe? Only if you have a NOS tune, IMO.

Who did your NOS tune??? You had not exhaust or converter and ran that good that is AWSOME, what kit you running a nozzle kit or what I am thinking about a NX kit.
Thanks Tim

I need good advice. I am considering going with a 100 Nos Zex kit. I think dry. (its the one that shoots into the air tube).
What are the pros and cons. I am fairly confident that 100 hit is very safe with the right tune but what are the cons?
And what about a purge. I've heard with a 100 shot its really not necessary.
I'm really interested in what the disadvantages are besides having to fill the bottle.
Thanks for everyones replies.

Ok here is an answer from a non-nitrous user, but a long time nitrous researcher. Before I traded in my 96 Mustang GT on my Marauder I was planning on spraying it. I contacted a lot of other GT and Cobra owners to get their input, then MM&FF did an article on N2O for the GT. The Mustang GT was not advised to spray anymore than 125, that was due to the plastic intake. Anything more than that and you were likely to rupture the plastic intake and have a serious backfire. If you upgraded to the metal intake you were good till 125 without a tune, you could go higher than that but if you did a tune was needed. The Cobra's, on the other hand, could take a 150 shot without a tune, and could go even higher with one, as a result of their metal intakes. Considering as how our Marauders have the metal intakes I would venture to guess that they could take the same as the Cobras can. When I spray (which I do plan on doing in the very near future) I will be spraying a 150 shot. I'm going to have a good tune thrown on it though, this way I know that I will be keeping the engine safe.
PS: the reason it is good to get the purge is you don't wanna spray gaseous nitrous oxide into your intake path. The engine doesn't use that as efficiently as it uses liquid N2O, purging it clears any air or gaseous N2O out of the lines before use. This may reduce a milisecond of dely that may give you an advantage. Also too, when the race is over and you stop flowing your nitrous and shut the bottle off, some N2O remains in the lines. If this is not bled off it can put pressure on the solenoids, it is best to purge any extra N2O from the system. That is why it is recommended.
When I get the N2O kit, I will be getting either a ZEX or NX wet kit. I prefer the wet to the dry because of my past with mustangs where the wets are preferred by a large margin. Whatever floats your boat though. Ideally I would want the NX direct port nitrous injection but alas that is WAYYYYYYYY too much for me.

I agree with the intake manifold and heads not having a problem with it but what about the pistons, rods, crankshaft etc. a 150 is a big dose of the funny gas. I think a 100hp shot with a tune can be run on an as needed basis and a 125 occasionally with a more retarded spark tune. 104 octane would help too. Nitrous rocks when used correctly. :rasta:

I agree.
I get very little wheel spin from ET streets. Some, but not a whole lot. I've seen the BFG-DR's in action. Zack makes them work nicely. But we're not talkings tires just yet. ;)
I give it an 80 shot from the hole. The 60' times are descent indicating the tires hook once in a awhile nicely and give me a 1.7 or better. My car runs 12.4 all day in 78-85 degree weather.
I haven't run since MV-III and have been rained out for two weeks now. Hopefully....hopefully...this friday, the LAST test and tune for the season around here...it will be dry. But more so...COLD. Our daily temps around here average 58-65. Lately it's into the 40's by 8pm.
This is my opportunity to see how low can I go....ET wise that is, on an 80 shot with my mods.
I'll let you know.;)
BTW: The car always did run well before the N20. I kinda figured better gains back when I was looking into the 80 setup.
