Does anybody know the alloy used in our exhaust? One of the 400 series alloys perhaps? Doubt it is 304 or 316.

I have to have a slight modification done to a tailpipe, and want to use the same tubing.

Thanks,

Last night was quite a joyful experience, but the drive home was even better.

I don't know how many of you know the meaning behind the song Radar Love by Golden Earring. It's not about driving reckless and running from the police. It's actually about a guy driving all night then suddenly hearing a song by Brenda Lee, reminding him about a dead lost lover he misses... he then decides to push the car to top end and commit suicide.

So last night after a movie (you can guess which one) Radar Love comes on my radio, Becky turns to me and says

"This is a sad song."
I say...
"Alright well let's put a good memory to this sad song. Let's see if I can make it to our exit before the guitar solo is over."

The vocals had already started on we were on Lake Shore Drive trying to get from Downtown to irving park. It's about a five mile drive and the speed limit is 35. Well we brought it up to triple digits. Not racing against anyone other than the guitar player. ;) We almost thought we weren't going to make it on time due to a Toyota driver right by our exit doing 25mph!!! Nothing a little WOT and quick lane changing cannot fix. When we got there we met our goal and the little part where the singer goes "Woo" we did a little fishtail slide as we got off the exit to our street.

So now Radar Love will always be our memory as having a blast on the way home with the wife to my side. :burnout:

The only other song that has a memory like that is Come Go With Me by The Del-Vikings. If you have seen the movie HOT ROD from 1979 that songs plays when the girl takes the wheel and has fun against a Porsche on the open road. Let's just say Becky did something like that too. :D

I have been re-wiring the mess the previous owner left me in the car stereo dept. So far, I have got the old Alpine rear 6x9's to make ok sound. While I was back there, I used some of the existing wiring to hook up an amp and a sub (ALL factory stuff is gone). The fronts come on rarely (I think a problem with connector), which means I have a very bassy sound. Working fronts would help alot. But, when the fronts are on, they have a lot of distortion with medium volume especially on the high frequency end. So, it seems they all will need to go!!

Any recommendations? I want a very crisp full range speaker that captures the highs in all four corners. So far, I have read that the JBL GTO938 and Polk Audio db691 are pretty good contenders. I just wanted your all's input. Bass isn't a concern since I have several sub options to choose from, including the dual 12" box my son just traded me for. I am not looking to blow up any ear drums but just looking for a nice clear and clean sound (especially since I am getting older and hearing isn't as good as when I was younger:o).

Getting everything together to do the 4.10 swap.

(This has been beaten to death - I will now beat it beyond death, to where it returns from the grave and wanders the Earth as an undead Zombie, consuming other threads.)

I want to get as much done as possible while it's apart, and over-build it to leave myself some headroom for a supercharger up the road. I'm getting it done at a shop, so labor's a consideration.

If the price were closer I'd go with the 31 spline LSD (which would be brand new, and comes with the carbon fiber clutches and saves a bit on labor), instead of keeping the 28's (+ the cost of the carbon fiber clutches, and the labor for the rebuild), BUT the cost of replacing the axles puts it past what I'm willing to spend. (And I'm not sure I'll really need them, either.)

From Sparta :

Ford Racing 8.8" Gear Sets, 4.10
M-4210-C3 - Install Kit
M-4700-C - Carbon Fiber Clutch kit
28 Spline S-Spring

https://id144237.webhosting.optonlin...roducts_id=360

Also want to get :

Solid Spacer Kit - http://www.jegs.com/i/Richmond+Gear/...FQqi4AodVQ8ATA

Bearing Stud Kit - http://www.lethalperformance.com/for...-stud-kit.html

I probably don't strictly need these last two, but I figure I might as well because they don't push up the price that much.

Also maybe :

Rear Axle Girdle - https://id144237.webhosting.optonlin...roducts_id=231

But I can do that myself later, so it can wait if need be.

I also have to figure in a new tune, probably from Mo.

Does this all check out ? Opinions ?
