Wondering if there is a direct plug and play after market head unit that can do nav and bluetooth (at the least) where i can still use the buttons on the steering wheel. anyone accomplish such a thing?

As far I know, anyone looking to put an aftermarket NAV unit has had to put in an adapter (or more than one) to get the steering wheel buttons to work. I haven't heard of anyone doing a plug-and-play with an aftermarket NAV unit.

Here are some links to get you started:

Technically it is plug and play providing you use the correct aftermarket wiring harness and in-dash mounting kit. The steering wheel control adapter is the only thing not plug and play per se.

I believe it is a direct fit, with a plug and play harness as well. Plus I like the look of factory.

    Just an FYI..............

If it's a true double DIN then you will need to modify the opening in the dash as the Ford headunit is not a true double DIN size.

You'll need an install kit as no radio but the Ford factory units will be able to be secured in the opening.

It doesn't look like the connections are plug-n-play to the factory harness. You need an interface harness.

To get the unit to recognize the rear camera if you install it you will need to connect it to the reverse lights.

Hey ... on the bright side you get a free map upgrade for the GPS...... Map of Germany that is!

There is no steering wheel button interface so you'll need one of these also.

I had the Pioneer AVIC-132 system installed several years ago. It did require a $ 50.00 adapter for the steering wheel control buttons. It all works without a hitch. Now I have full control of the stereo and sub-woofer, DVD video, navigation, blue tooth, iPod, CD, and AM/FM/Satellite.

That's just it; if you look at the housing, it looks to be designed to fit in the stock opening. Notice the holes next to the "Home", "map", "phone", "SD" buttons for the ford radio removal tools.

You can only tell if there is a side view.

True. Well, it may be a month or two (have to get the car back on the road) I intend to try it and I'll report back.

I'd look forward to that. I'd like to have a touch screen that requires no plastic trimming on the install & sits in the dash properly.

It seems the radio you have linked for Ebay is for sale at Radio Upgrade.

The lack of details and multiple picture angles of the unit etc.. has made me leery of forking over my dough to try this radio.
