doubtful they lift it or drive it (except maybe on rollers for emissions) too much liability for a state budget to drive cars . what seems go be your concern? you have an issue?

what if they did lift it? you keep beating around the bush..yes, they will search for a catyltic converter with a mirror on a handle

I have seen , too often, some yahoo jack up a car by the body, not frame etc...
Getting mentally prepared in case we retire to NC. Thnx.
Straight pipes, no, all stock there, but lowered....

N.C. DOT Inspection with my 2004 MM:
- Verify paperwork
- Enter current mileage
- Plug their computer into the OBDII port in the car
- Visual inspection - emission equipment, etc.
- Safety inspection (jack the rear of the car up by the pumpkin) to check rear tires
- Check for tinted windows - if tinted, extra $10.00. If tint too dark you fail.
- If there are no codes and all the monitors are in place and there are no other problems they print out a receipt, you pay the man and your done.
- If there are any failures, you will fail the inspection.
After a successful inspection you'll have to go to a DMV office to pay the registration with in 60 or 90 days.
