    Tires

Thanks for the feedback. How can I check out the sidewall stiffness?

I am running un-matched Nittos now - I'll check out the Motivos.

I thought that every tire had a sidewall stiffness rating. Guess I was wrong. It is not part of the information stamped on the tire itself. I couldn't find it on the Yokohama site. Not much info anywhere on the web that I could find.

You may just have to find and un mounted tire somewhere and just "poke" it. If you can collapse/bulge the sidewall with a 2-finger grip spanning the bead to the tread, it is probably too soft. A stiff sidewall will require a full hand grip and strength just to deform it a little. Compare that feel to a known performance tire (stiff) and a touring tire (soft). I am out of suggestions. Maybe someone else will chime in.

5% is the OEM difference. About 3 to 6.5% works to allow a small margin for wear. New fronts, old rears or vice Versa, for example.

I see Cooper now has a new offering. Better performance then the RS3-A tires, per Cooper's site.

Cooper Zeon RS3-G1. An all season tire.

    Tirerack shows a set @ $571 + delivery etc.

I need tires in the spring so I hope for some feedback afore then.
    Thanks,
    jay

Does anyone have experience with a lower aspect tire?

The current gen Mustang GTs have (front) 255/40R19
    (rear) 275/40R19.

I was thinking of trying out this size, 18s on the stock MM rim.

Thoughts/ideas? I've got widened rims out back.

Traction control and maybe ABS wont like it..that's only a 2.3% size difference. front to rear..need 3-6%..front tire is fine as 255-40-19 converts directly to a 255-45-18 height and width. Many run 255-45-18 on front, I do.

The 275 -40- is too small..about half an inch taller and 5/8th wider than the 255-40. You would need a different rear size like a 295-40-19 which is close but a tad shorter but same width as the popular 295-45-18 widened stock wheels use

Thanks Joe. I just ordered a set of the RS3-G1's. Should go on next Tuesday.

I try to buy American if I can find a good product and Cooper has been good to me. I really like the RS3-A's on the Lincoln. These propose to be a notch up.

There is also the General GMax AS-05 which is available in stock sizes.
