You obviously haven't driven in LA. I hate going out there because of traffic, I find Detroit to be tame after driving in the LA nighmare. What's great about 696 in Detroit is that you're 20 feet below ground level and there's no way out. On the below ground portions of the Lodge (M10) freeway, there's ladders so you can escape to a neighborhood where you'll get shot.
I can navigate my 21.5' crew cab truck, with a vision obscuring truck-cap, through Detroit rush-hour traffic no problem. Just don't let them see fear and make your lane changes without regard to crashing and you'll be fine.
