Added a low oil pressure LED and buzzer

After seeing DR's post I added a low oil pressure switch, LED and buzzer to my MM. Installed the switch (Duralast P/N-PS103, switch closes if there is < 12lbs of pressure) in the second port on the factory oil filter adapter using brass 1/4inch fittings. Ran a wire from the sender to the ground leads for the LED & buzzer (Radio Shack parts), power for the the LED and buzzer is supplied when the key is on. LED is mounted at the top left of the oil pressure gauge and the buzzer is mounted behind the center gauge pod. Light and buzzer come on when there is no oil pressure. Will be adding a low oil pressure and cruise control light to the dash in the near future ala drgnrdr33 although I'll try a less complicated install.

If it were me, Id find a switch that activates with 5psi or less, not 12.

On a really hot day after beating on the car, my OP has dropped below 10psi.

But this is exactly the switch that Dennis used/uses. Are you saying it's wrong and should not be used? I used the same switch... without all the brass shown above and no buzzer, just a bright red light on the pillar pod.

Zack, you didn't call me stupid, unless I missed it and I didn't interpret it that way..... Can our engine survive with less than 12lbs of oil pressure??

Every Marauder I have ever worked on or driven with a stock motor normal OP at idle in gear on a hot day it can and will drop down to 10 PSI or lower, this is normal at idle. Now 12 PSI at idle is fine but at 50 MPH NO, you just toasted the motor.

Anybody have a report on the oil pressure warning lights? I finally got the wiring hooked up on mine. Initially it works as expected, but when you turn the car off it appears that the switch stays stuck for several minutes. Not much of a warning system. Maybe I just need a new switch?

Brian, I think you need a new switch. Mine works fine. As soon as I turn the key on, without starting the engine, the light and buzzer (added one) comes on. After an oil change the light and buzzer come on for a few seconds until OP is up.

On a couple of other cars I own, I use a normally open switch that closes above 10 psi, but I wire it so it will shut the car down. I use an override to start the car.
