I am looking to get a 03 Marauder which appears that the left rear wheel broke off (from pics). I don't know if it can be repaired or the whole axle repaired. I am new to these cars and wanted to know what differences there are to the Marquis/Crown Vic axles?
Thanks

03+ axles the same other than Cv and marquis prolly wont have a 3.55 rear end ratio. Mid year 05+ have 31 spline axles, prior are 28 spline.

What type of differential do they have open or limited slip?
Digging your extensive mod list in sig

I thought I read somewhere they changed the location of the shock mounts compared to Marquis/CV or is that just on the body?

You can find a 3.55 with a limited slip in a Crown Vic if you look hard enough. Axle code C6 on the door, and the diff tag will read 3L55. I picked mine out of an '07 CVPI.

Regular Cv/marquis will have 2.73 open, various cop cars will have 3.27 or 3.55 varying open or trac lok equipped

axles are different 1998-2002 so cant use those..the frame was changed in 03 so must use 03 and up axle assembly. the rear mounts moved outboard rather then inboard

Are the mounts moved on the rear axle on all the cars (CV/Marquis & Marauder) or just the Marauders?

All cars before 2003 had inboard shocks, 2003 and after are outboard.so don't even look at 2002 or before it will do you no good.

Okay I got it. I'll see if I can get this car in a few hours then will go looking at the repair/swap.

Budget new axle shafts and bearings in the used axle at a minimum. They're pretty much always worn out, it is an inadequate design.

I read somewhere that these have air suspension. I have had a Navigator with air suspension and loved it. Can someone explain the basic system setup? I wasn't able to find it online.

rear air springs (bags) compressor under the air intake housing, airlines, solenoids, height sensor on driver's side attached to axle and watts link. system adds air if extra weight added into trunk or rear seat, or purges air when empty to maintain the same ride height. Height can be adjusted by moving ride height sensor location on watts link.
