Get your dremel tool out to get the radio to fit through the dash trim piece. Buy the proper wiring kit for the radio, controls, and GPS. Be prepared to try and stuff 10 pounds of stuff into a 5 pound bag. Tucking all the wires is not fun. You might consider cutting the side plastic away inside the radio hole to be able to tuck the wires to the sides. I just did my wife's on Saturday.

What he said. Do not skimp on the wiring harnesses. Get the right stuff. I just put in a JVC KWV21BT and my wife loves it. No gps but does have a camera.

Were you able to get it to play DVDs when the car is in gear?

OK!!!! My 2 cents!!! The plastic UNDER the radio can be trimmed out leaving lots of area for the wiring harness to reside above the HVAC controls. The illumination wire in the harness (red/blue) only tests 12volts if the sunload sensor on the dash is covered. The OTHER red/blue is the steering wheel control input. When you hook your OE woofer to the harness, use a resistor on the remote turn on to reduce the voltage to 5 volts otherwise you'll have an on/off pop with the factory amp.

What model number? I'll see if I can find anything.
Usually it's just grounding one of the wires so the unit thinks the parking brake is on.

I saw a unit that has a wireless backup camera setup....sounds good if it works....ofcourse it eliminates running a wire from the rear bumper...
Anyone have any experience with one of these??? There are also some cheap units from China that have dual core processors and windows 8 or 10..Full laptop computer capabilities....Anyone try one of these???

I have a BOSS single DIN in my DD Ranger. Have had no problems with it. For some reason the 9384 the one you show, sonic says it will NOT fit...The one I picked 9386 they say WILL fit...I like your pick better #1 price,#2 more power 80w@4channels vs
..I think it's 50w@4 channels..http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_75903_Boss-BV9386NV.html..and the dash kit, harness and antenna adapter are $9.95....They pair it up with the car...On second look, same wattage...
Thanks for saving me $25..I'll look at the dimensions of each and see if there is a difference... .Probably let Best Buy install it for $100...I'll put the wireless backup camera in...
I cannot find the difference between the two.....variable color is the only one I see....The fitment thing bothers me....They both come with harnesses....do I still need to order a specific one???

Yeah, that's where I put mine. Only issue I never thought of was the off center viewing. But after a couple weeks I had no problem backing into my tight 100'+ driveway quickly at night. It looks right at home in the key recess.

Here are the parts you'll need:

So,there is no need for the aftermarket wire harness???The one in the box is all I need except for the speaker harness you state???No need for an antenna adapter???doesn't the FD1330B have a split dash surround???How about the metra 95-5817??? I've been looking at these new android units...They play all the apps on my phone...Your thoughts???

When you setup your steering wheel controls make sure you do it with your parking lights ON. Because of the resistance I had to dim my gauges very low at night to get the steering wheel controls to work. Was annoying as hell and I wasn't motivated enough to pull the whole dash apart to fix it.

"So,there is no need for the aftermarket wire harness???The one in the box is all I need except for the speaker harness you state???"
The aftermarket harness connects the harness from the radio (power, ground and speakers) to the factory connector. You can always splice the wires but the aftermarket connector and harness makes the unit plug 'n' play. Much cleaner look and easier to disconnect if needed. For the extra few bucks it's worth it. I can solder the connections for you, just pay for return shipping.
"No need for an antenna adapter???"
Unless the radio takes a smaller diameter antenna plug there is no need for an antenna adapter.
"doesn't the FD1330B have a split dash surround???"
I have no idea what a split dash surround is. This is what the FD1330B looks like: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Scosche-1995-Up-Ford-Double-DIN-Kit/10752395
If you or the installer doesn't know how it works, take it somewhere else.
"How about the metra 95-5817???"
I prefer the Scosche FD1330B to the Metra 95-5817, but both will work.
"I've been looking at these new android units...They play all the apps on my phone...Your thoughts???"
I have a Pioneer AVIC-X940BT (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/GPS-Navigation/AVIC-X940BT). It does everything I need. I have no experience with any of the newer Android units.

The faceplate is for a single or double DIN headunit. You just cut the bar out for a double DIN.

It's a nothing deal. Seriously, I scored it with a simple razor knife as I was too lazy to grab my mini air saw.
