43088 Just installed new led tail lights. Made for Crown Vic but connectors are the same just got to install resistors so lights dont flash as fast.

You going to paint the chrome? post a vid of the lights on/flashing/turn signal would be cool

It would look a lot better if you painted the chrome to match the car like the oem tail lights.

Id like to figure out if I can just switch the chrome out with the SB piece from my old tail lights without breaking it.Otherwise I will probably just Plastidip it.I wont lie though the chrome is kinda growing on me.

Keep in mind these are made for crown vics but these are plug and play for the merc.I just have to tweak the resistance to get the flasher to work right. Its too fast.

In assuming the flash is still to fast and it needs more resistance in the system? Or flip side... Too slow and needs less...

Don't tint... Open... Paint chrome... Reinstall...

Bulbs just as bright, get the benefit of being bright ass LED's

Rant off.

What do you mean by this?

With LED's there is less resistance in the "system" so the LCM thinks there is a bulb out and the turn signals flash faster than normal to alert to the fact that there is a bulb out.

Fixed with either installing resistors(s) or an electronic flasher.

sparker_1982

BTW they are already smoke tinted.I think they look good just as they are.Look way meaner than OEM tail lights to me.Theres nothing on the bottom of these. The top LED lights are the flasher.I tried to post a vid of them blinking but something with the forum wouldnt allow.Lol I probably just dont know what im doing.

James, they are sealed like oem lamps.. :(

I am doing vinyl as it is cheap, doesn't need to be polished, wet sanded etc, and should have better transparency than paint even though I'm going with a very light tint. I want to look more OEM. I was also thinking of adding V3 triton red LEDs just for brake lamp on the chrome section..Not sure if worth it..

These lights are pretty good sizes units. You'd think the manufacturer could incorporate the proper electronic resistance to get the flashers to work. Even if the cost is a bit more there needs to be a plug and play option.

OEM sealing doesn't mean much, especially on a china knock off tail light, I am sure 15 minutes @ 195F in the oven would open them right up

I can easily order sets and add the resistor to the circuit for those that need plug and play options. Would come at a cost however.

Could offer resistor installed (one which does not require mounting to metal for heat dissipation) and also painting the inside chrome...

PM me if seriously interested and I can work up a price point.

Considering the OEM lights are already unique to the car being tinted I'm not seeing the benefit in this? It certainly isn't cosmetic in my opinion. They look cheap and don't really accent anything. Just make sure you keep your existing ones for when you sell the car.

Mine are DOT approved and came with flasher/resistance box, plus look more oem than the euro altezza chrome ones.

The main benefit here is the increased performance/output compared to an incandescent, and the fact you are bringing the car up to date on lighting technology. You have to admit, the oem lights are a joke when compared to newer vehicle's outputs.

Next up is finishing my HID projector retrofits, and install a bright brake light LED bar in the top of the back window.

That's one thing that I like about LEDs... how bright they are. I plan to upgrade to LED tail lights in the future to improve the viability of the car from the rear.

Website takes you to eBay

I don't see resistor box

Napa sells electronic flashers, I've used them on my trucks. Does the LCM contain the flasher or is it external like older cars?

The LED aftermarket lamps are actually pretty decent quality and seem to be plastic welded. I would use something like this, just on the lower strips. But I don't mind the bottom chrome part after slight tinting of the entire thing.

43160Sorry it took so long to post these I been working like a madman. In my opinion they are pretty good quality and I havent had a problem with them yet.I thought about getting the chrome painted but its grown on me because I think it matches my chrome bumper lettering and chrome license plate bezel quite well. This summer I may experiment and plasti dip the chrome but for now i'm happy. The whole thing is smoke and it goes really well with the SB paint. These I think would only go good with the SB and black marauders but hey everybody is entitled to their own opinion.I didnt notice before but you can twist the out the bottom inserts to install more lights.

If anyone is considering these, the running to brake or running to turn signal difference in light output is a joke. Barely noticeable increase from running voltage to full voltage..IMO unacceptable.

Additional work is necessary to make it safer, and less aftermarketish. I have several possible solutions.. not sure what I'll end up following through with at this point. I have a video I can post later.
