Started seeing the TV ads this weekend. Don't know how they can make any money at that price. Looks like a Can Am with a body.

I saw one about a year ago at the gas station in front of work. The driver opened the trailer, it was the orange prototype. Not sure what the hold-up is with them. But it would make an awesome commuter.

Four Elios ' for the cost of a smart .
I've only sat in a smart , but it was funky!
The Elio is definitely funky too but from all I've read it should be pretty fun!

The ones they just funded to build will have the production engine now.
Elio needs much funding , there is a potential government grant that they need, to fund the start up .

It goes 100 mph stock, 0-60 is like 9 or maybe ten.
It's three cylinders .9 L makes like 65 hp
Marty prolly trow a turbo on it and run tens!

I just can't get past the looks of that thing. I've seen a few Smarts modded now that actually appealed to me. LOL

Yeah , on closer examination you are correct on pricing.
Base price on 2016 pure coupe was 14500 and the Elio is projected to be 6800 .
My experience was with a used one we had in 2013 @ Fidelity Motor group.
It was every bit of twenty grand used.
I'm sure it was gussied up with options, all the cars there were .
Bottom line is
The Elio is quicker, faster, gets over twice the MPG and now under more scrutiny is also less than half of the initial cost.
I don't particularly like the looks of either of them.

Don't worry, Pep Boys will be repairing it under warranty when it breaks down every 5 miles! lol

Actually, it's not as ugly as I was expecting....I hope they do well.

The 100 pre production vehicles will be sold to fleet accounts.
They planned to keep them internally, however the plan changed, so the vehicles can be tested by the buyers and tweeked by Rousch.
