Ford is sponsering "employee night" Thurs. May 20th at greatlakes dragway .Some of my new coworkers told me about this event. Is there any advice you folks could give me that might help? This is a first for me . keeping the engine cooler until race time might help? any adjustments? tire pressure reflash . Just hopping not to be last:banned:

From what I remember:
1) Leave when the last yellow comes on
2) You don't need to do a big smokey burnout, just a little spin to clean your tires, and stay out of the water.
3) In my experience, the cool engine doesn't help me too much. Normal operating temps seem faster, for me anyway.
4) Unless you're supercharged or really modified, you won't have to feather the throttle.
5) Be prepared to become addicted to drag racing.
6) Wear something that will show off the giant smile you'll have on your face the whole night.
In general, the folks at the track will be real helpful. If you're not sure of something, just ask. Everyone was a first timer once. One more thing, let your tire pressure in the rears down to the 24 - 26 psi range. It seemed to help me. Lots of luck, and have fun! :bounce:

I hear ya, Gary, but let's give BradleyG a break on here too?

If he's never raced at GLD before, how could it hurt his first time? Better to start racing, than not, eh?

I'd rather run through an alley in Englewood myself, but we all have to start somewhere...

You go BradleyG, let us know how you run. It's a ***** track, but it's a track...Ya know? What ever you run, it will be better elsewhere in our region, K?

What is the best track in the region??

I went to GLD with my Corvette last summer and could not get traction in the first three gears and ran about second slower than I should have. I attributed to it being my first time at the strip and not knowing how to drive, perhaps now I can blame it on the track.
