View Full Version : Veil? Has Anyone Used It?

This suppose to be a true cloaking device for automobiles. From what I have read it really works. Does this mean we finally have a product that is a true cloaking device. Or is this just another info commercial that comes on every night then advertise the price at $19.95 and dont work like it does on TV.

You get what you pay for... You'd probably have better luck buying a magic marker and cardboard and writing "Official Cloaking Device, you cannot see me anymore" on it and then sticking in your car window whenever the cops are around.

They'd drive right by you, I guarantee it... Mostly because you HAVE to be completely insane and that frightens them, but hey...

These are not the Marauders you seek.

That was funny. But on the serious note Radarbusters tested this product and it really works. The cost is $89.00 for a can of it. You spray it on your headlights, licence plate and your fog lights. Anything that can reflect light you spray it on. On the report it stated black cars were the best test subjects due to the color. Then as I kept reading about all the jammers on the market it surprised me that many enhance the radargun ability to clock the car at the real speed resulting in tickets. But just like logan said you get what you pay for, many dont even know the expensive jamming devices we buy are made from the same companies that make radar guns for law enforcement. No wonder we still get tickets even when the fuzz buster is on.

Yeah, uh... I'll put a little more faith in my V1 and my Blinder Lidar jammer than I would in a spray can. :D

Bingo.

Stealth paint in a can?

I have no scientific evidence to back up or refute the claims made by VEIL, but its premise seems highly dubious at best...it's a CLEAR coating you spray on your headlights, and it allows visible light from your headlamps to shine through (hopefully), but it absorbs infrared laser light?

From their web site:
"VEIL is not designed to be used on the painted surfaces of your vehicle."

So what about the LIDAR that is reflected from the 80% of the frontal area of the MM that you CAN'T put this stuff on?

:censor: :shake: :bs:   :nono:

Hairspray is like $0.99 a can and will do the same thing - help diffuse the lidar signal.

I am curious, you mention "anything that will reflect light" - do you mean laser or radar? Radar does not need a surface that can reflect light. That should only help you against lidar, and even then only to a small extent.

Incidentally, the reason many states require a front plate has nothing to do with IDing the vehicle. They need a flat, reflective surface to target with lidar. The theory works - if they are targeting a specific spot, mask that spot.

Kinda like when Batman was asked why he only wore a bulletproof vest - what if he got shot in the head? His reply was "that's why I have this big yellow target on my chest."

$89 a can? I'll put my trust in the Escort ZR3 shifter. It's paid for once you buy three cans of this stuff, and it works (I'll put money on this) much better.

Thanks,

RF - they mention black cars because black absorbs light - hence one of the reasons they make you put a big target on the front of your vehicle.

I'm not saying having a black car makes you immune to lidar, but it is certainly better than having a white car.

Wouldn't that be "Official Klingon Cloaking Device" for the top of the line cardboard and magic marker version??

Ah, yea.... :nono:

I'd like to hear what Constable has to say about this...

I think I just lost a few brain cells while reading this thread. Radar is a simple concept. It bounces waves off of an object and then receives the waves again. In split seconds, it can figure how fast the object is moving by the distance it traveled in the short amount of time that the waves took to get back. (That's not a detailed description!! Just the basics!! Don't flame me, I don't have my radar book in front of me right now.)

How the F would a clear spray-on coating keep Radar waves from bouncing back?! I could kinda imagine how it might work on a laser setup because a coating can refract light. But that coating would have to be alot thicker than a few coats from a spray can.

I have yet to encounter a vehicle that I couldn't get a solid speed on. I've pulled people over who appeared to have a rolling NASA station setup in their car... and none of their gadgets worked.

You have to figure: our radar and laser systems have been developed, tested, modified, tested, re-tested, and more for decades. Now, think about radar detectors. Lots of them go off if the wind blows the wrong way. YOU CANNOT BEAT OUR (POLICE) TOYS.

If you want something worth the money, buy a Valentine 1.

Lately, I've just been keeping my speed on the freeway down to within 5 MPH of the limit. Saves on tickets and with gasoline at ~$2.20 / gallon it helps save some cash in the tank, as well. :)

Bah.

I spent an afternoon defeating lidar with my Blinder no problems past 200ft. If the gun was within 200ft it was hit and miss whether it'd get a reading. More often than not it just displayed the generic error code. Past 200ft, not a prayer of detection. We did at least 16 passes at various speeds...It was more than enough to make me want to spend the 3 and change to equip all the cars I drive with it.

Radar, only defense is to hope he shoots someone in front of you first. :)

The escort lidar jammer works quite well as well, though I haven't had a chance to play with it personally. The Blinder has saved me from countless nuisance tickets at this point.

That's what I'm saying...

I don't deal with Laser because it can be defeated like that. No laser systems are used here in NJ because they have been defeated in State Supreme Court on many occasions. Most all departments in the state use the Stalker 2 radar setup ("2" for two antennas - front and rear). Some troopers use the Python, but they're freakin huge. The stalker is nice and small. Each radar antenna is about 1/2 the size of a can of soda.

Yeah, the stalkers are certainly best of breed. I just don't appreciate being on the receiving end... but like you said, not much that can be done if he's got a stalker and he's pointin' directly at ya comin down the street. Even the V1 ain't gonna help much besides startle the heck out of ya by goin apecrap... :)

Anyone who's been on this board for a while knows how I feel about excessive speed so it should come as no surprise that I agree 100% with the Horseman, on both counts...
