I have a little cash too play with. I have stock block. Wondering with turbo what can I turn it up too? Or if I decide too go NOS route what's biggest shoot I can run? Which would be better for quarter/redlight run?

Stock block is fine, it's the rods and pistons as the weakest link..best to stay in the 425 range, they say up to 450 RWHP. stock block, prolly a 100-125 shot? a couple people here have nos, they should reply..as for turbo, you'll have to build it as there are no off the shelf turbos for these cars in kit form.

so if I go with forged piston's and rods my stock crank should be good for 500 rwhp right with eaton blower? just thought I would ask? not to start a new thread.

You wont get to 500 rwhp with a eaton unless you add NOS..prolly 425-450.. I have a Trilogy and am at 455rwhp, can squeak out 15-20 more rwhp, but didn't want my tune up to the very edge. I have forged rods and pistons, nitride stock crank. stock block should handle up to 600, stock crank 500+, everything is a gamble just trying to minimize the weaker segments, need a good tuner to keep a/f and timing in check

You want a forged crank (8 bolt) + new flywheel for 500 rwhp.
Possible with cast, but not likely. Don't think there is anyone with 500 at the wheels with a cast crank on this site.

70,000 miles on a stock block with 476 RWHP. No issues until my timing chains went. Maybe I'm lucky, I also have a stock driveshaft that is just fine at 150 + MPH

The crank isn't the weakest link, not familiar with anyone with a crank failure..but I would do forged as well if my motor was reopened that far.

imho go roots 450 to the wheels max.
it will be reliable and you will be happy.
if i'm not mistaken (which i don't think i am) you can get to 500 with an eaton but why chance blowing the motor.
have fun whichever route you decide :beatnik:

I am running 480HP to the wheels on my stock block. I have a Vortec supercharger. So far the only things I have managed to break are an alternator and my rear end carrier assembly. Knock on wood. I figured I will run it until it breaks and then build it better next time.

When I first saw your user name I thought it said poodle, past that, I'm no help, I have a DTR with mostly cosmetic mods...

Okay sorry I meant vortech supercharger. An I've been thinking about a 100 shot with Marty Tune..
Guy has a vortech supercharger for $2500 rebuilt

You need more than procharger unit, brackets, piping kit that Noone really makes ,injectors, etc

It was the full setup off a 03 Cobra.. I might've needed different piping but it would've worked

nothing wrong with a procharger, it's easier on the motor in essence as you are not under constant boost as most centri style need around 3000 rpm before they start to awaken up.

None of them are under constant boost.

What series ProCharger?
A P1 would be maxing out in the upper 400's and a D1 around 600.
You could possibly run the stock block as high as 520 with a centri as its not hammering the rods right off idle but slowly building over the entire rpm range.
To achieve that your tune would have to be spot on, your mechanicals in perfect condition, and running something better than 93.
In essence it's not worth the risk. Keep a centri in the 475 range and you'll drive away happily. Or turn up the wick and WALK away broke eventually.

Yes, I know that, just keeping it simple that the centri style and roots have different qualities when building boost

Yep... And even at 475 it needs a really good tune or it will spit the wrist pins out the side of the block. Been there, done that...

I ran a 100 shot on my car for years. Then went to a turbo. Both make great power. Turbo makes more power. But cost more to run it (ie fuel system upgrades). If you have a budget of $1500 I say spray it 100shot and get a tune for the nitrous. I had a lot of fun with nitrous on my car.

I see you have too different times. Just wondering what was the nitrous quarter time.

The NOS system I use is the EFI V8 Universal Wet Blackout Nitrous System™
$601.55 Part Number: 82023B it has 75,100 & 125 jets :nos:

Would also use a bottle gauge & pod gauge

I was there, it moves out for only a 100 shot! 12.4 IIRC

Pretty much the same as you plus underdrive pulleys. I sprayed right out of the hole and it did great.
On my turbo setup the best it has done is 12.7@115mph. I can't build boost at the line so it's pretty much leaving the line like a 80 year old grampa. And good tire spin at the 60 foot mark when the turbo wakes up.
