I have noticed in the past few years when driving on the Interstate people park on the shoulder and pose for pictures in front of the State "Welcome" signs.

Today a family parked on a shoulder adjacent to the end of an on ramp. An 18 wheeler on the ramp jammed his brakes resulting in the pick up behind him making a evasive maneuver into the lane in front of me.

Common Sense has become Rare Sense.

So why did the 18 wheeler jam his brakes? I guess I am not following the correlation between the truck and family.

I am a family who stops to take those pictures. We are always off the road when we do it though.

Its probably those folks that make the last minute decision to pull over to take the picture or crossed five lanes to get over before the exit suddenly came up, not thinking about the poor saps behind them. That is usually what causes the "jam the brakes" for the 18 wheeler and the rest of us.

My point is being sharpened.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation and State Laws prohibit non-emergency stops due to the severe hazard they present to commercial motor vehicle drivers and other motorists.

FYI, posing for a photo is not considered an emergency stop.

True words spoketh like a poet.

Sorry, wait I'm not sorry. If you pull on to the shoulder for a non emergency for a ******ing picture and get railroaded. Well.............. A few less stupid in the world is a good thing.

Many state welcome signs have areas where you can pull over to take the picture. if these folks did not pull over safely or cutover at last minute then you have a case. If they are like my family, we pull over in a safe spot, then there isn't an issue.
