So the past week I'll be out driving and when i come to a stop, I will occasionally smell what I first thought was 2-4D so I figured that someone had sprayed some herbicide. Later, I had a friend in the car and he smelled it to but thought it smelled like natural gas (rotten eggs).
To add to this, I have started to get an engine code of SYS TOO LEAN bank 2 and I have started hearing popping sounds from under the passenger side when the car is warming up or under acceleration.
A quick search of the Internet suggests that one or more Cat is used up. Would this also be the group consensus here?

Could be as simple as a lazy o2 sensor on the drivers side front causing the PCM to add fuel.
The rotten egg smell is excess fuel getting burnt off in the cat.
You could very well have unmetered air entering the drivers side of the engine to.
Check the obvious things before thinking about replacing the cats. Something would have to create the failure anyways.

Do you have a exhaust leak at the egr or manifold? Popping might be fuel in the exhaust, like bob said. Too rich
How many miles per tank?
Poor gas mileage?
I'm in KC too

Yup Happy to help
My catalytic converter failed on a used 04 at 113,000 miles due to numerous miss fires from the previous owner not changing plugs and COPS. Similar code but also bang the cat with your hand. If your hear a rattle- bad cat. The right side cat had a darker, rusty color then the left as well as burnt insulation against the firewall/passenger slope area next to it. Changed one cat and both O2 sensors, gaskets and bolts all OEM including cat-no problems. Tail pipe chrome tip had black soot.

Last night when I drove home, as soon as I got off 435 onto 63rd, the popping became quite frequent and loud. Driving home from there sounded like I was riding in something fueled by Orville Redenbacher.
I got up this morning and as soon as I put the car in drive, the popping commenced again. So it's not a hot engine/exhaust issue. The popping only happens when the car is in motion. If in park or neutral, I can rev the engine and not hear the popping.
To add to this, there is also a buzzing sensation throughout the car when driving over 30 mph.
I ended up taking her to Dick Smith Ford in Raytown this morning mostly due to no other transportation options (the Dodge isn't currently tagged). I'd love to meet up with you guys so we can hash out the issue and also meet some fellow Marauder fans but I will probably end up letting the stealership deal with the issue.

They can diagnose it and you can fix it. Most likely coil on plugs and spark plugs, let us know if you need help
Hey, by the way, don't bang any hot catalytic converters if you like skin on your hands. Cold engine/exhaust check Please!!

For the same reason that people touch the plate when the waitress places a hot plate in front of them using a pot holder and says "Careful, the plate is hot".

They haven't figured it out yet. They currently think it's a rear suspension thing but aren't sure. The 'good' news is that they don't think it's internal so it shouldn't an axle problem.

Because rear suspension has everything to do with a driveability issue. Go pick up your car and bring it by. It won't be ackward and I don't need anything from you just want to help a fellow Marauder guy. If that doesn't work for you I understand. But please post or pm what the dealer condemns so I can tell you if you are getting screwed or not.

Odd how you first start to smell eggs, now rear end issues
I've worked on plenty of construction equipment that didn't get frequent axle oil changes,.. Eventually the grease would smell like elephant poo / raw eggs
If I can save you money let us know

Dealer just called back. Axle bearing and seal issue on passenger side. Wheel has over 2" vertical play. They are currently saying $1k parts/labor to fix.

My recommendation would be to tag the Diplomat to buy you some time on repairs. Between the wealth of knowledge here and a couple local guys willing to help out you could save yourself some serious coin. Not to mention those K cars are kind of fun to drive.

I can do a repair bearing with new seal if the axle is okay for around 350 plus tax. I can do the bearing, seal, and an axle for 600 plus tax. 12 month 12k mile warranty FCAC nation wide warranty. Lmk.

Yup. I'm going to try to get her re-tagged on Friday once I get a couple of issues fixed. But that will also require an inspection and property taxes and then a trip to the DMV. Hoping there are enough hours on Friday to get that done.
Just sent you a PM, Neil. And a message on FB.

Cool! I just realized the Diplomat wasn't a K car. Guess I was thinking of the Dodge Aries. Being from the 80's it still sounds fun to drive though. :)

Get one from a 2006 and you'll be donning 31 spline axles with a locker if it's POLICE. $120 for the whole assy, amazing.
