Pulled a few plugs to check for spark...Nothing :help:

Crank sensor

Are you getting fuel?? If the crank shaft position sensor is bad you will not have spark or fuel. It's a two wire sensor behind the a/c compresor. When cranking the engine it will create a pulse which in turn activates both the ignition coils and fuel injectors.

If you have no fuel in addition to no spark I'd start there. You can test it with a meter while cranking the engine, you should see your multi meter jump between .5 and 1.0 volts while cranking, if you see this crank shafts position senor is good.

For clarification when I say no fuel, the injectors will not pulse, I don't mean fuel pressure in the fuel rail itself.

If it's the CKP, the CEL will stay on while cranking.

Brought a new Crankshaft Sensor and took off old 1 only to notice metal shavings.... I might still be good.... but those shaving tho?

Did you get car started after changing the sensor? ?

I don't understand, you found metal shavings on the old one... if so not good, any pics???

Sounds like the chains have worn thru the guides.

It's getting spark but barely....im goin to replace plugs tomorrow

I'd ignore the fact that you found metal shavings, get some Lucas in there.......

Getting spark and feul NO START:mad2:Do you have injector pulse? Fuel pressure without injector pulse will not work.

If your crank trigger had metal shavings, I'd suspect the cam sensor does too

Did you clean it?

You could be getting fuel, but not enough pressure to get it started.
Have you verified 40psi in the rails?

Ima rent 1 and check that... does have upgraded 190 fuel pump, I don't know if that has anything to do anything

Got gas in it? Air makes pressure too

Did this start right after the new fuel pump? If so, what kind of clamp did you use?

It did start. Can't remember what clamp

I went and got a fuel pressure tester and never used 1. What steps do I take for testing this car. The kit has a clear hose, multimeter, banjo bolts?, TBI adapter?

Screw the gauge on the schrader valve and crank the car over

Once you get pressure the gauge should read line pressure

The clear hose may be a ( once you have pressure and want to release pressure without making a mess) expel to soda can

There would be a button to push to release the pressure

If you don't get a bunch of gas, you can be pumping air

You don't even need to crank the engine, just turn the key to run. We have a returnless system that pressurises immediately.

Screwed on and got 0... screwed off and seen a little gas.... don't if it's faulty or I have a problem

you have a problem. can you hear the pump come on when you cycle the key forward? crawl under the back of the car and hold a screw driver up to the tank and your ear. listen if you can hear the pump come on.

Pull the gas cap off, turn the key forward or crank it

Put your ear to the gas filler neck

What do you hear? nothing? Bang on the tank to rejuvenate da pump

Ok turned key for 12 seconds and got 45psi

Turbov6Bryan

Does that gauge have a clear tube to expel rail pressure?

Gas or air?

Gas.........

So you have FUEL, SPARK, and AIR

make a video of it turning over,.... When you crank it over do you get AIR out of the throttle body? As in, slipped timing?

If no odd cranking sounds, floor it while cranking and that shut off the injectors, it may just be flooded

Then start it normal

95chickn

Could it be a sensor?

Zack

If it has fuel spark and air, it will start.
You need to post a video of you cranking it.
Does it sound smooth and normal while cranking?

Compression Low... bad heads I guess

RubberCtyRauder

It needs something else as well....proper timing

Ill admit it... this was a halfassed rebuild. Ill just start over. I wanna start by rebuilding or refreshing heads.... i can get the rings.

I lined up marks and it started just fine.... but i always wondered if that timing wheel thing is necessary(i dont know what its called but ive seen it in pictures). It sits where the crank pully sits:dunno:......can someone explain that

Crank sensor trigger. You could say it's necessary.

Degree wheel?
Helps you find tdc #1 and exact cam duration and overlap, also a magnetic micrometer EDIT: dial indicator too! added in the mix, you find exact lift. Then you grab your cam card and verify everything you checked out matches the cam card. If not, adjust :)

Is this the old ran like crap engine, thought it was bad gas, but had no compression cause of a chain?

Or is this your aviator motor?

Sucks you have had such bad luck! Don't throw in the towel :)
