If that is truly the problem see who your local Mustang clubs like to use.

Mustang club or check out 4x4 or off-road shops. The F150 uses the same axle. Before finding the shop I currently use, I used a local off-road shop...they are now my back-up. :D

Well, my local shop charged me $2000 for a new axle, posi carrier, brakes, and labor... if that tells you anything.

I had two axles replaced, new gears installed, trak-loc rebuilt, Dyno tune, and a new Sct tuner for around $2k.

Prices will vary depending on location. $1300 does seem high for only new gears and seals.

How long will it take a shop to do the work? 4 or 5 hours? Plus $400 in parts...after markup. So labor cost is $185+ an hour?
