I do not like the sound of a diesel pickup with loud exhaust. Especially the 6 cylinder Dodge. Seems like that's the craze now. Does anyone agree with me?

Some of the guys around here have 6" pipes and are rolling coal. I have a 6.0 PSTD and it's the valvetrain noise that kills me.

Just like the ricers think their weedwhacker-on-steroids bouncing off the rev limiter is da' bomb, the bro-truck owners think a diesel with 12" exhaust spewing noxious black smoke makes them awesome.

They would both be wrong.

Unmuffled diesels sound like crap.

They would both be wrong. Quoted for truth...hell, the diesels are more annoying than the ricers simply for the coal rolling factor.

I hate, hate, hate when they roll off a red light like they are on the 1/4 mile run. Not cool, your not fast, doesn't sound cool and definitely not cool to the people around you that have to wait till all the smoke clears to even see to move...

I love the sound of most engines. The Cummins I-6 is a very strong, and well designed engine. Now the idiots "rolling coal" piss me off. There is no need for that on the street. Today's diesel engines are controlled by computer, and those idiots have to go out of their way to get a special tune, just to roll coal... and look stupid. Many do it just to piss off other people. They think causing others grief is funny. This is the height of ignorance.

I don't mind hearing you engine run, but I don't need to be smoked out just for their giggles. I used to drive a very well built diesel Super Duty, and I miss it, but it ran clean.

Oh yeah, it sounded great too.

I bought it brand new 02 cummins 6 speed 4x4 3500 and i turned it up with HP BOX, tapped wire on vp44 and injectors

It would fill cabins of rolled down Windows :) Much fun turned all the way up.

Put 3 injection pumps on it myself in a month and said F U

Still have my 2000 powerstroke with 2012 body on it, it's hard to get rid of a vehicle that doesn't owe you anything

Where b my brackets homie

My daily driver is a 2002 F350 with the coveted 7.3 L turbo diesel. I do have a tuner for it for fuel economy and performance upgrade. Other than that it is stock. One heck of a truck. 275,000 miles and going strong. Just ticks down the highway, day after day; mile after mile.

I understand these turbo diesels can put down great track times with very few upgrades at a reasonable cost. I have seen a few around here run wayyyyy faster than my Marauder. But I do have DTR?

I don't like all that black smoke either. I did notice that my exhaust pipe lines up with open windows on short cars, as it exits on the passenger side just before the bumper. I could not imagine filling up some dudes corvette with black diesel exhaust. Or could I?

Some of these trucks will spank most cars on this site. The sound doesn't bother me whatsoever but the smoke is utterly retarded.. I see some states are now ticketing $1,500 if caught rolling coal.

Clearly a personal problem, I have a DTR, not much around here is faster...... Maybe my car was really a DPB and was painted DTR at the factory????? That could explain it. :D

Oh I'm that a-hole that has a 7.3 diesel full exhaust with no muffler and cats. And yes it does "roll coal". I like the way it sounds and It needed a chip in it cause it was to slow for me stock. So the black smoke is just the by product of me making it suitable for my needs. But I don't drive it on the highest setting (140hp) all the time just 50 more horse and I'm happy.

Gotta Love the 7.3

Everyone picks on the DTR Marauders because they look the best. When I get that lower end put together, I'll properly represent like you.

Its pretty bad around here, not to mention most of my neighbors own diesels without exhaust. They are finally starting to do emission on them, I foresee a ton of diesels for sale in the near future!
