I recently came across an unlikely mail order company currently offering 'Royal Purple Synthetic' motor oils at pretty decent prices. Perhaps not in the most desired viscositys, but I know some are using them anyway.
I bought some of each anyway.

SYNTHETIC MOTOR OIL
10W30, 10W40, 15W40, 20W50, 5W30 : $3.99 QT.
SYNTHETIC TRANS FLUID
ATF, FOR DEXTRON/MERCON III $5.25 QT.
SYNTHETIC GEAR OIL
75W90, 85W140 $6.59 QT.
