This is really getting frustrating. About a month ago I noticed water on the garage floor and traced it to a leak in the windshield washer reservoir (I thought). Took out the reservoir, filled it, looked for leaks, couldn't find any, put it back together, filled it up, sure enough, it leaked again.
Over the next few weekends I did a series of things trying to find and fix the leak. Tried sealing the hose connection to the reservoir with silicone sealer, tried spray painting the entire bottom half of the reservoir with several coats of Rust O Leum spray sealant, etc.
Still leaks.
Went to Rock Auto and bought a new reservoir. Fast delivery, good price. Put it in this morning, filled it up. Still leaks, so in my brilliance I figured out that it's not the reservoir at all.
Now here is the weird part. I can fill it up, and it doesn't leak until I activate the washers for the first time. Then it continues to drip until it is empty.
The hard part is that there isn't much additional hose or wiring harness that go to the reservoir, so I can't keep the thing out where I can see it, activate it and try to trace the leak. Wherever the leak is coming from, it is not visible when the reservoir is mounted against the sidewall of the engine compartment.
I'm thinking maybe the hose from the reservoir to the washer spouts is cracked somewhere that it isn't visible. But if that was the case, why would it continue to drip even when there is no water being pumped?
Really shaking my head over this one.
