Are the door lock switches supposed to light up? Neither of mine are. Thanks.

yes, so do the window switches, heated seat switches and light switch. All tend to go bad. I have re-soldered a few of mine to get them to work again. If you buy new door lock switches note that there is actually a drivers side and a passenger side. Single window switches are all the same for passenger and back seats.

When you say "light switch" do you mean for the headlamps, etc on the dash? The side view mirror adjustment switch doesn't light up does it? Local Ford dealer quoted me $104 for left power door lock switch and $96 for the right. Guess I'll check ebay. Anybody have part numbers for them?

Yes head lamp switch - just found an LED replacement for it hasn't arrived so can not confirm if its correct or not.

Side view mirror control doesn't light up - at least not from what I remember and I've had my car since new. can't remember for sure though

lock switches are below - not sure which is which (left or right)

I found a replacement LED bulb and holder..... It didn't work so now I mod the one that comes with the switch.

I mentioned somewhere else but just found this thread. The LED T4 Neo Wedge tall fits the head lamp switch. It is 19mm tall, about 5 mm too short but bright enough it works.

I also just noticed that when you switch the window lock to on, the passenger window switch lights turn off, been so long since I had those working I didn't even remember that. For a second I thought they all burned out as I didn't realize I switched the window lock on

All are supposed to light up. The rear window switches will not be illuminated if the windows are locked since the lock cuts power to the rear switches.

I can fix all of them if needed including the headlight switch light.

Please remove the master switch trim/bezel properly! There's thousands of people suffering of flopping switches due to attempting to remove the controls from the wrong spot!

Look for the notch towards the front of the bezel. Lift up the front of the bezel first. There is a tab at the rear that everyone breaks off.

I put new switches in the car a few weeks ago...

Start from the pointed edge and work your way to the piece that always breaks

Either a new switch or fix the old one.

Brilliant! I meant what LED bulb spec is used.

there is no lamp, its a tiny little LED, no LED socket they are soldered on to the switch. None of the switches have "bulbs" in them (except for the headlight switch - and that is a bear to find a replacement for).

Steve, thanks. I have removed the LED from the switch but it is unmarked with any identifying characters. It seems to be 3mm diameter which appears to be a standard size in hobby LED replacements. Electrically I am not sure what to look for..most hobby LED replacements list brightness and color along with viewing angle, but no voltage or resistance values. I suppose I can simply try some and see what happens..unless someone has the proper LED for sale..or is willing to divulge the model or part identifier.

That is the only switch I have not taken apart, so I have no personal experience with it. The window switches and door locks switches have thin flat LED lights that just need to be solderer. My heated seat switch blinks off and on but I have yet to take it aparts so I can't for sure tell you how to repair it or what the bulb is. I may actaull get to that this week as I need to take my door panel off anyway.

Steve, well when/if you do, report your findings. There are few hobby electroncs supply houses (except internet) so there is little chance to browse for suitable LED replacements. Find the one that works then i can buy some from you.
