Quite a few years ago I purchased some Z&M control arms made by Zack. They came with no bushing. We used the oem bushings. I now want to change the bushings in the control arms. My question is did the oem bushings have metal casings or were they just the rubber & no casings ?

Oem rear bushings have a metal sleeve.

The bushing sleeves are frozen in the control arms. Any idea on how to remove the old bushings ?

A hydraulic press is almost required for most bushings. Some can be done with a hammer and some force. It's worth taking to a shop if you don't have the press and they cannot be removed easily with hammer

I tried using a ball joint press to remove the bushing. I was unable to make it work due to the sleeve with a rolled lip on one side of the bushing. The only thing I can think of is to cut the rolled lip so I can use the press. Am I missing something or is there an easier way ?

You push it out the other way. It will only exit one direction

I removed all rubber then cut the shell longways. Pain in the ass

I changed the control arms for Sparta's because the bushing's failed.
