Here is the 2017 All Fords Downtown Parade ... the parade is limited to just 400 of the over 2,500 Fords, Lincolns, and Mercuries registered for the Showfield.
Blackened300a (1st Place -- 2003 Black Modified MM) and merc (1st Place -- 2004 Silver Birch Modified MM) roll by at 3:00 of the video in the outside lane. A better ground level view of the Parade is posted on the Carlisle All Fords FB page.

The announcer said per-registrations (over-all) were down a bit from last year but, the Mustang crowd was out in force. Weather was great for the most part with a brief sprinkle on Sat morning. Bit windy, but the temps were great.
I think Ms. D snapped a few pics at dinner on Fri and Sat nite in Harrisburg, I'll let her handle that.

George's buddy Frank with the 1965 Shelby AC Cobra Factory Five kit car registered at 9:00 AM with registration number #2222. Pretty sure they broke 2,500 on Saturday. Not quite the over 3,000 number from last year.

Charlie,
How in the foook do you know this and where do you get your stats?

Because my son sent me a pic of Frank's registration sticker and dashboard showfield card. It had #2222 written on it. Time was 9:00 AM. Not a stretch to estimate 2,500 for the day.
Last year's (2016) count is from Carlisle Events information. I was at the Main Gate #3 at Carlisle at 11:00 AM on Saturday when they announced over the Public Address system that they had just reached 3,000 registrations. Final count was 3,200 registered.
I don't make this **** up .... and there is a basis for everything I say and do.

It is a converted 1955 Lincoln Futura as I recall. It was used in the 1966-1968 TV series. It is featured in the 2017 Carlisle All Fords Directory, page 9 with an article/write up. Video was posted on YouTube by Carlisle Events or someone else ... not mine. I just found and posted it.

I thought we had a much better spot this year.
We weren't on the really STEEP part of the hill, or next to the hamburger-grease volcano, and I liked having the tent in the middle of the spread instead of next to the busy, dusty road. It also seemed closer to everything and had a better view.

I agree that our spot on the mountain was ideal. The placement of the tent was also a big plus.
How many people must be pre-registered to qualify for the larger tent? We should try to push this.
Once again, Joanne and I had a great time.

Carlisle has a limited number of the larger size tents and they allocate the largest tents to the largest clubs. The Marauder gang didn't even make it into the Top Ten Clubs this year. Focus Rising pulls in about 140 registrations. A couple other clubs are near 100. Relying on pre-registrations alone probably won't cut it anymore. Clubs can pay to upsize the tent; but the last time I looked, it was much more pricey than I would have guessed. The extra expense is probably not a Cost-Effective answer until attendance gets back in the mid-40s again. JMHO
The harsh fact is that attendance at Carlisle has been decreasing since 2014 when a peak of 49 MMs were on the Hill. There have been similar declines in attendance at Marauderville, Louisville, and even New Hampshire since 2013 and during their final NH year. Maybe it is a reflection of the changing membership. There even appeared to be a lack of enthusiasm during the run up to Carlisle this year. Basically, there are about 30 regular attendees with a few newcomers each year. The Cheerleaders need help in advertising the benefits of these events to articulate their experiences and the anticipation. Otherwise, the decline will continue. Hell, I'll even admit that my motivation went to S41T this year .... And I regret missing my first one in 10 years.

WOW...That's my car, Charlie. Those pictures are from Friday because the yellow show picture tag is still in place under my freshly purchased MOTORCRAFT wiper blade.
Interesting story is that I had a separated wiper blade that was discovered Thursday night when I was leaving for Carlisle. A quick search turned up Family Ford right in Carlisle, so I headed over there first thing on Friday morning. Jim in parts took my advance phone call, and said to come right over and he would have the blades ready for me.
Family Ford was less than a three mile ride away. I pulled into the Service and Parts area, and got out to see Jim. No sooner did I go inside, then all the guys in the service department came out of the open service door to see my car. There must have been three or four mechanics checking it out. Jim came out and offered to install the new blades, so I said sure. Good thing I did, because the first pair he had did not fit the mounting pins properly. He went back to get different pair, and he successfully installed them as all the mechanics watched.
Before I left, Jim called to the cashier, and told her to hurry outside to see my car before I had to go. She came out quickly to get a look at the car that had already drawn a small crowd. This really was a great reception from the Carlisle Ford dealer, and I pulled out of the lot with an appreciation of their nice reaction to my car. :coolman:

I have a buddy who would lone me his 10 X 20 car port. I don't know if it would fit in the Marauder. There are lots of pipes. If I can stuff it into the car, then I'll bring it next year. If I can't, then I'll pick up a 10 X 10 EZ Up.

I doubt whether Carlisle Events would allow you to erect a carport on the Showfield. It would probably open a big can of worms for them.
You also need to consider something that can be knocked down rather quickly. Remember back to 2010 when that freak windstorm blew through Carlisle. I tried to get out before the storm hit; but never even made it to the wash rack area when traffic back up. Nearly every tent was damaged or torn and many had tent stakes pulled out of the ground and were flapping in the wind. We were lucky because that year, our tent was in the hollow below the Car Corral. I think our tent wasn't damaged at all. Not so for others especially on the big Hill. A reoccurrence might put a carport airborne with resultant damage. The EZ-Up Canopies can be dropped in minutes so not a problem.

For all of you that have been posting and identifying pictures, Thank You. There are some of us that have not had the pleasure of meeting most of the membership. When posting a photo with no identifying information it is just another nice picture of a Marauder. When a member's name is added it strengthens the photo by identifying the individual that put a lot of hard work and effort to show there exquisite Marauder. If I posted a picture of someone's Marauder I would try to identify it by putting at least the members forum name but also real name if known. "Steven Hornaday (shornaday) 2004 Marauder" or something similar.
Again thank you for posting all of the links, videos, and pictures of the 2017 All Ford Nationals Carlisle Event. It shows the great time that all of you had and the many different shows and autos. I love them all. Thank You.
