Can someone recommend a gear swap kit? I am wanting to buy a complete kit to bring to a shop that will do the 4.10 gear swap. Hopefully there is something like that instead of having to buy everything separately.
Thanks!

Talk to MOs
I have been talking to Mo's. Very nice guy and super helpful. Just not feasible to take it there. Oh yea, and I'm cheap. I've found some pretty good prices on separate parts, shopping the internet and was hoping there was somewhere that sold entire kits including the gear.

The guy who installed mine I paid Him only $250 and He did it on the floor...."but" it wasn't done right and I have to redo it. You get what You pay for and it is what it is....good luck!

We are running the eaton 4:10 locker should come with the cluster ring and pinion. You would need axil and pinion bearings

Look on Sparta Performances vendor page here in the forums section. Kit starts with a M-4???. There is also a kit to do carbon clutches if I recall. Tommy can set you up.

You will need:
Ring & pinion gear set
Carrier bearings
Pinion bearing
Crush sleeve
Pinion seal
Axel seal (2)
Red locktite
RTV gasket maker
3 or 4 quarts of synthetic gear oil or 3 or 4 quarts of gear oil and a tube of friction modifier
Will possibly will need:
Axels(2)
Axel bearings (2)
Clutches
Should upgrade to:
Stud kit
Cover with side bearing supports to prevent side bearing and cap deflection

If you want to not have any issues later, let the shop that does the work buy the parts for the install. Otherwise if there is a problem later it will be a he said, she said. The repair show will not guarantee the work on parts they do not purchase and install.

Maybe I'm more thrifty than cheap. I agree that you get what you pay for but sometime you can get the same thing done for cheaper. I hate feeling ripped off and love finding a deal.
Thanks for all the help.

Don't forget clutches. It's cheaper to do them now than to go back into it later.

This is a job we will be doing, provided the parking brake still works when done .

Nice write up, I do have some questions regarding axil upgrades. I tried to pm Bob the Biscuit Builder of badassery but

But, now that the marauder has the forged bottom end we should do the axils. I read a post that Bob didn't replace everything. I was trying th keep the eaton 4:10 locker. I was thinking the axils and cluster was all we needed along w bearings. Is this correct thinking? Thanks

if you are going to 31 spline axles, you need axles of course, and a new carrier for 31 spline.

My rear has been through a couple of different set ups from 4.30 back to 4.10 but yes every single part has been replaced and/or upgraded along the way.
Current set up is:
F.R. 31 axles
F.R. 31 diff
All F.R. Bearings, races, seals
Yukon 4.10 gears
Solid spacer kit
Stud kit
F.R. Girdle
F.R. Oil
I installed this last set up approximately 6/13 and mileage racked up around 15,000 miles without a hiccup.
Now I have upgraded axles to 31 spline for others and kept the 28 diff. I simply swapped the parts needed to upgrade the diff to a 31 spline. Spiders, S spring, and I "think" the pin. I can't recall if the pin was actually different.
I'll clear some space if you still need to PM.

Jeff had mentioned that we would break the 28 first time it hooked up and those nitro nto5s are sticky so not going to try till the axils are done.
