I'm not talking about your Marauder, just any car.

I ask this question because I work with a guy who owns a 1915 Model T. His great great grandfather bought this car new!

I've been looking for other longevity stories like this but haven't found anything yet. I've told him this has to be a record and he could easily get some good press. However, he's not very interested in the attention.

The Marauder takes the prize for me at 14 years. I kept my 1974 Dodge Charger SE for 12 years.

My father and his 3 brothers picked up a 1929 Buick with the intent of restoring it. It ended up that my father was doing all the work on the car and he asked each of his brothers to do specific things on it. They didn't cooperate and it led to a family squabble over the car. It sat in my Grandfather's garage for nearly 50 years until it was sold to a doctor who had it professionally restored. Think I only saw it once or twice as I was growing up.

I bought my 1970 Mustang Boss 302 on April 19, 1970. I still have it
I bought my 1989 Mustang LX Coupe in January of '89, and I still have it. It is now a supercharged, 347 stroker.
I bought my 1993 Mustang GT Hatch in March of '93. It is now a supercharged, 331 stroker.
I built my FFV Cobra kit car from 2004 - 2010. Still have it.
After attending the NYC Auto show in April of 2004, I was at the dealer the next day ordering my Silver Birch. Several performance mods later, I still have it.

The longest owned vehicle in my family is the 1982 Glendale motorhome my parents own. Rides on a GMC Vandura chassis. They bought it new. The second longest is the 1986 Merkur XR4Ti that we bought in 1991. I still have that one in my garage. Third longest is the Marauder, which I bought in 2005.

I got the Marauder new Sept 2002 and have been the only owner.

My dad bought a 1990 K5 Blazer NEW in 1991, no one in Chicago wanted it. I still have it to this day.

I have a hard time getting rid of cars unless they are total piles of crap. I only ditched two cars in my entire life. A 65 Chevy C-10 and 92 Crown Victoria.

The Marauder will celebrate its 15th birthday on June 26, 2017.

As far others, my Dad's 1991 Nissan Stanza holds the record which will turn 26 years old in August of this year. Good car.

While I was in the service (USAF) I would go to a local parts yard and buy a car for $500 to 600 Fix what was needed and run it until the wheels would fall off (not really), but when I was done with them the were really ready for the junkyard.

1976 Ranchero purchased in the early 1980s. Pulled a 429 (4V) out of a Thunderbird, rebuilt that one with a mild cam and had it bored out .030. Had the heads reworked, new lifters, Crank was trued. Just about everything was new in that engine. Put another 100,000 miles on it, rust was really eating away at the body so I parked it. Still have it, engine still runs good just needs a new carburetor.

1980 Ford LTD, did the same with this one as I did on the Ranchero. Put around 150,000 miles on it. It still sits in the back yard.

Bought a 1987 Ford Crown Victoria with 100,000 miles on it and drove it another 150,000 miles with only minor maintenance. However, when I quit driving it you could hear the bearings going. Last time I shut it down it just about locked up. (wrecked it 2 times). Still sitting in the back by the garage.

Then I bought a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis with 16,000 miles thru a friend that would go to auctions. That was in 2003. Still have this one and it has about 90,000 miles on it. I have had portions of it repainted several times due to paint peeling. Then had it completely painted and about a year ago the paint started pealing on the roof again. The shop owner let it slip that he didn't think it would start peeling so soon. Its going into the paint shop (AGAIN) next week to do the job correctly. Don't know if I am pissed at Ford or the Shops that did the painting.

Bought a 2002 Ford Crew Cab Pickup in 2005. It is still running strong with 136,000 miles. Just need a new paint job on the roof. South Carolina sun does a number on paint. More cars than I have covered parking space.

Then bought a 2004 Marauder in may of 2014 with 36,000 miles, absolutely love it. Now has around 49,000 miles.

Not long after I bought the 2004 I purchased a 2003 Marauder that has a little over 100,000 miles on it. Don't drive it much due to the mileage, but it is right up there with the 2004 Marauder. Just tickles me every time I get behind the wheel.

Bought a 1997 Ford 4x4 and 1979 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser off of my mother to keep her from having to deal with selling after my dad died. Both need work as they came out of Iowa where the salt rules during the winter. The brake booster came apart on the truck while rolling up on a stop sign. Seems one of the places that was pressed in to hold the two halves together rusted out. Luckily when I lost the brakes there was no traffic.

Like I say drive them till the wheels fall off or I total them. Now it stands that I can drive a different vehicle each day of the work week. But now that I am retired I just can't make up my mind which one I want to drive.

OK, Ill get of my high horse or Rant what ever you want to call it. :D

50 years - 1965 Mustang 2+2, 302CI Windsor 4BBL, 4SPD.

Purchased -used- in 1967, the original owner had blown-up the 289CI D-code engine and replaced it with a *new* factory 302.

In 1969-1972 the car was drag raced in D/ModifiedProduction - heavily modified TransAm/Boss 302 (Cleveland) with a T-Bolt 4.56 9" differential. Retired from drag racing in 1973 and the original 302CI Windsor was re-installed.

Given to my youngest son, the current owner, in 1995.

Sorry, couldn't find a pic'. :(

For me it would be my 2003 Audi A6 Avant that I just sold last month, been in the family since new and it was definitely the best car I ever owned before the Marauder but I had to sell it because car ownership becomes progressively more and more expensive over here. Now are even introducing a toll system on the Autobahn which is based on displacement and emissions of the vehicle so it'll be super expensive for the Marauder again, as if taxes and insurance wasn't already expensive enough.
Gets to a point where I can't afford having 2 cars anymore so I'll probably have to sell my project car too if the government keeps stealing my money like that but they'll never bring me to sell the Marauder even if that means I'd have to live in a garden shack to be able to afford it soon. :depress:

Some very impressive stats here, but not surprising for a group of car people.

My stats are;
2003 Marauder - 15 years - bought new in 2002
1963 Marauder S-55 - 36 years - bought used in 1981

Still, none of these come close to 102 years and owned since new. WOW

My Dad bought my Marauder new in 2002. Now I have it. It has 205K miles and going strong. My dad is very impressed with the continued care I'm giving it. He was meticulous with keeping the service records up to date in the owner's manual. I've carried on the tradition.

This is a good thread, and there are some awesome stories here. Glad I'm not the only one. I've always wanted to get into buying and selling cars, but my wife says that I would go broke because I would never sell any.

First, because it is a Marauder forum,

03 Mercury Marauder Bought NEW in Jan 2004
89 Mustang LX 5.0 convertible Bought it in September 1994
46 Ford PU traded a Cimatti motorcycle to my uncle for it in 1974 when I was 12, later my uncle died and my aunt gave the bike back to me.
