That's off a towncar, which is the parts bin where our steering wheel came from...

Yep. Plug right in. Though if you had a marauder wheel you'd need to remove the airbag to install the wheel and personally, I won't go near a airbag. Have a pro do it.

You'd also need to either get the airbag cover or transfer yours over, but if memory serves the lincoln wheels are darker or black. You'd need to paint the airbag/horn cover to match.

Yeah, changing that airbag is like working on a land mine. It's too easy to screw up and get hurt.

In all fairness - I've been working on cars for about 11 years now - never professionally, just my personal vehicles or for a friend/family member. I'm pretty competent and perform most all of my own repairs. I have removed and installed several airbags and steering wheels in both Ford and GM vehicles. The key is to follow the directions in the FSM, closely paying attention to the delay time from the moment the battery is disconnected. I personally feel the airbag has a better chance of going off while I'm driving, hitting pot holes, banging on the horn, etc than it does when I'm carefully removing it from the vehicle. I work with several ASE master techs and I asked them this question. Most of them said with the right precautions you don't have much to worry about. They did have quite a few stories about things you can do with an airbag in a shop to demonstate the power within. But that's a whole nother topic! :)

I saw a couple of guys in a wrecking yard detonate (yep, that's the word I mean) a bag under a semi tractor wheel and tire. It was an honest instantanious eight feet in the air (maybe higher but I don't want to indulge in hyperbole). It was impressive!!!! It made me think about the opening sequence in "Casino" when the Caddy gets blown up and the seat flies in the air.
