View Full Version : Fog Light Upgrades

Ok, so the LED bulbs I bought for the fogs suck. For some reason there have been those here that have done successful LED upgrades to the fogs but have no included much detail about what was done or photos. So, now I'm wondering if I'd just be better off sending the lamps away to have them converted to projectors along with the headlights, a full conversion to be done.

Are they led replacement bulbs or leds with a ballast similar to hids

They're just replacement bulbs. I get better illumination of the road with my parking lamps, they're so terrible.

Those are going to be about the same as your parking lamps. I run the led replacement with the ballast style. I got mine off of ebay and haven't had an issue with them. I always search philips led (bulb number) and it brings up different lumens and watts. Just pick what you want from there.

Well, that's been the issue. I have no information on what will actually work and what, if any, modifications are required. I've seen several posts about using this kit or that kit, but no details about the installation are shared.

Alright so from a quick read your best bet is to run a h10 bulb and people say you have to dremel the abs a little for it to fit properly.
imo I would go with these

I currently run a similar set up on my mercury for hi/lo and I also have the same ones in my other vehicles with no issues

You will need alot of work to get those to fit.

Because of the base?

No, take a look at the foglight and explain how you are going to get the bulbs in the housing.

Again, with those fogs are they plug-and-play, or what kind of work is required to fit them? I don't have the resources to figure this out with trial-and-error.
As for the second link for headlamp projector conversions, that's one of the two companies I was looking at for getting it done.

From my experience with modifying foglights, none of those are plug 'n' play.

i dont believe retrofit source builds custom lights, i think they are just a seller of components. having lights custom made will be alot more than $572.

I'm very happy with the 35w Innovative 5000k HID kit.

Like I said, was just looking. I saw they had the components, just wasn't certain about doing it myself. I saw another company that would do it, just send them the lamps. Seemed reasonably priced, too. Just can't remember who. I guess I forgot to bookmark their site.

The fog lights are easy to install. Projectors require hole cutting the back out of the light housing and installation effort, but well worth it.
