The owners manual says to not use the rear differential as a jacking point. Does anyone know why? I've actually done this in the past when I wanted to get both rear tires off the ground.

The jacking points are marked on the running boards, that's what I would stick with.

It is a case and not a load bearing point.

Marauder or not, you should never use the rear differential as a jacking point.

Not to mention, if one does not position the floor jack properly, you can damage the rear diff. cover causing a leak or worse!

Its a 8.8, pretty sturdy.
My guess they dont want you to jack it up by the rear axle pumpkin is because then you support the car by its flimsy frame and lower the jack and screw your bags up. 99% of the rest of the public that is not a car oriented family will jack it up, put it on stands, then let it down without shutting off the switch in the trunk.
That rear is tough. I jack them up by the tubes and the center pumpkin all the time. Just DO NOT let it down without shutting off the switch in the trunk.
My manual for my 2011 mustang says to use BP fuel, i laugh every time i fill up at quick trip

I know you're not supposed to, but I have always done it, on all 3 cars. One time I did cause a leak when it bent the bottom edge of the diff cover.

I always go just in front of it, or use my jack that cradles the diff cover so the flimsy oem cover doesnt get smashed.

The whole reason for shutting off the RAS before jacking is to prevent inadvertent triggering of the system while it's in the air and causing undesired suspension movement which could potentially cause injury. There's no mechanical or electrical reason otherwise.
The RAS shuts down after 59 minutes of no activity so if you've waited at least that long before jacking or lifting the car, there's no need to shut the switch off anyway.

The reason you turn it off is in case something goes wrong with the system. You don't want a spring suddenly inflating or venting when on a jack, jack stands, ramp or lift, especially with someone underneath it. The car could shift unexpectedly and cause damage, injury or death.
Key words there is inflating or venting..... if we all went with poverty coils, it might save someones life some day.... lmao

Same here, but no leaks. Yet.
I also jack up engines under the oil pan. [emoji15] Of course the owners manual made no mention of not doing that so I'm good. [emoji1303]
