For those with custom, steel hoods, please share your pictures. If I may ask, what did it cost (fabrication, prep and paint)?

Just a question, is your car done yet? I followed some of the build and it's been a while. I may have missed it though.

I can only think of two steel hoods off the top of my head and that's Todd?? (A turbo car sold off to someone) and hands down the best cowl that I've seen and one in Wis. done up like a Super Snake.

You'll have to google for the pics.

That is Todd's car that I mentioned. I know he was trying to sell the car 6-7 years ago. I'm not sure what ever happened to it?

Here is the other one I mentioned belonging to Fairlane347? I believe it was made out of steel.

Fairlane347's design was my first pick. However, I am now going with the one below. I am considering adding vents on both sides to directly feed the intake manifold. This would eliminate the long tubing to an air filter. I got the design idea off Bitchin Rides - the Camaro in this episode (https://www.velocity.com/tv-shows/bitchin-rides/full-episodes/anyone-know-where-i-can-find-a-bitchin-ride).

It already is happening. I saw the design projected on a wall Saturday. The problem is time to make it: 2 months. If I could have found something in steel that was close, less metal fabrication would be needed = less time to wait.

I cannot install the blower without the custom hood. All the parts are shrink wrapped, sitting in my trunk. Lowering the motor is out, so I get to wait, I guess. Hell, it has only been 2.5 years.

Just how much taller is the 3.2L over the 2.8? The 2.8 fits under the stock hood and if they 3.2L is just little taller maybe you can get away with simply cutting the needed hole above the blower and some of the metal underneath the head for the intake and covering it with a scoop.

DUDES, all of this ****, all of this unsolicited criticism, isn't helpful. It's condescending. It's small minded to assume that you know better than someone else who is fully functioning and it's even worse to assume that you've earned the right to set them straight.

No one here "knows better", they are simply giving opinions.

My opinion? They all suck. My class glass sucks, even the one I hand crafted and slaved over many years ago sucked. TBone who bought that one and many others LOVED it! Good for them! Just personal preferences, not factual evidence that most look like ass.

I like others are just picky and perhaps there isn't any that look good, but stock is boring..

I do like the one I posted with the dual vents/scoops however.

Phew, you're way off base.

Not condescending, not small minded, not meant to be helpful... Simply people stating their opinion of the appearance of the car. IMHO the scoop is WAY too tall, especially at the front and in the light color, makes it look out of proportion for the vehicle. Yes, the owner may like it, that's why we human beings are all different. We all like different things.

To lie and say it looks good is the same as applauding for a comedian that's not funny or a musician that sucks or telling a kid a they are correct when saying 2+2 is 5 = the mess the world is in now. Everyone gets a trophy. It also means the person lying is weak and has not matured in to adulthood.

Sorry if it offends you but that's what is nice about forums - no pretenses. People state & share their opinions about anything posted. If you can't deal with it, don't post pics then you won't hear what other members think about it.

The thread has been derailed, enough about this. Carry on...

I bet SpeedCore out of Wisconsin would make CF prototypes for our cars. Would be big money though to get them to develop. :(

https://speedkore.com/shop/

$7260 for full front end CF for a Mustang is not a bad deal though. Would be more worth it in weight savings on a pig like the MM, whereas the mustang has aluminum fenders and hood.

Actually our cars being barges means we can do what we want and it doesn't' matter much. I'd say the weight savings (if any after structural reinforcements are added) would not be be enough for the expense. Our hoods are so thin that they are pretty light to begin with.

I'd like a subtle treatment as well. Carbon would look nice but wouldn't matter to me.

I had to change from steel to reinforced fiberglass. The metal fabricator I chose was pulled to work on a SEMA build. I must wait until December to start on a metal hood. So, for now, I am copying a Cervini hybrid hood with steel panels underneath for added strength (see Mustang picture below). If needed, I can have a custom metal hood built this winter.

BRG Racing has contacted Class Glass asking for an applicable copy of the hood in the photo below with steel reinforcement underneath. It will be a little less sexy, as the Marauder hood does not have the step curves on the front corners as the Mustang. I want to eliminate the Kenne Bell intake tube that connects to the throttle body and run air from the vents in the hood. I got the idea of an episode of Bitchin Rides for Bob Cimon's 68 Camaro (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hu__jFls0jY). Of course, the Kenne Bell is not the same setup, but where there is a will, there is a way. Such a design may have to wait for a full metal hood.

I will publish the hood details, cost and pictures. My hope is Class Glass will add pictures to their website.
