Does the door panel have to come off to install a new door keypad? Is it plug and play or do I have to program it?

I don't see clips on the back of the thing. I'm hoping you just remove it from outside the car in 2 seconds. Rooting around youtube did not give me the answers I was looking for...

It has a harness that plugs into the DDM.

door panel needs to come off, its plug and play code is in the module not the keypad so you will be fine

Its a PITA. I had to remove it when I had my car painted

I have tiny hands, makes it easier to get that pad off. Otherwise long screwdriver, lots of patience and luck

It's hard to get around the window to the clips. I suggest removing the window to avoid damage to the glass.

It's a tight fit, slide the clip towards the mirror and it'll fall out

Come on....

I can take them off blind folded.....

One of the easier jobs.

Taking off the door panel is easy, I just hate it. Boring. And I'm lazy lately.

Why can't it just clip on from the outside like everything else in cars these days?

When one of those clips break you will be saying otherwise

Here is a youtube on another style Ford keypad.....it unsnaps from the outside in 2 seconds without breaking. Looks perfectly sturdy.

drop it off at a shop with a bar next door . problem solved . does not get much easier with the door open and sitting on a stool , better then pulling the engine and replacing the rod bearings . now that's boring LOL

Just did mine, took the window out and it was super easy. The little Gold circle contacts came off the pad so i fixed them and cleaned everything. Works perfect now.

You can rip it out if you don't care for it and unplug it from the outside of the car, putting the new one is requires going through behind the door though.

I go to a self service wrecking yard, to perfect my removal skills.
