wow, bummer. And how about the double entendre from the principal "the children will raise to the occasion." I can see how the kids would love to have that as their mascot - especially Harry Potter fans, but that is a potential cruel pronunciation mistake and kids can be mean - especially with the amount of nasty parents in this world as their examples.

I don’t see it being an issue. Anything can be made fun of if you try hard enough, Phoenix seems like a fine mascot to me despite its plural form.
