Team, have an intermittent noise that gets louder when speed increases and stops when the brakes are applied.
Just had the passenger side axle/axle seal replaced in October since it was leaking gear fluid al over.
I also had the driver side replaced, too.
Since then, I've been leaking no fluid and I just drove 500 miles in one day and car seems fine besides that noise.
I'm thinking it's the brakes but I don't want to rule out the axle seal going wrong either. Thoughts?

Check the brakes, including the parking brake.

Roger, that's what I'm going to do. These cars have the built in brake warning right?

Parking brake shoes dragging or dust shield has a rock stuck in it. Had both.

Yes, it's a piece of metal that contacts the rotor surface once the pad material is reduced to a certain thickness.

My guess is they mounted the parking brake return spring backwards. Been there, done that LOL

To be more specific about what I said, the spring is probably rubbing on the ABS tone ring. It only happens when the lateral play of the axle shaft is pushed in towards the centerline of the axle.

Hot, easy fix? And what would cause the axle shaft to be pushed in?

Check for worn brake pads. The wear indicator contacts the rotor when brakes are NOT applied. Usually noise disappears when brakes are applied. Slight bowing it in the pad steel.

Hot, easy fix? And what would cause the axle shaft to be pushed in?That spring is a ball-buster to install with the axles in place. If that's what it turns out to be, I'd hit up the place that did the original work for some reparations.

Well, $821 later, the dealership is saying I need two wheel studs with one lug nut since it broke, a brake flush, and resurface rotors along with new brakes. They won't have the parts in until tomorrow.
...wow

Update: price has been knocked down close to roughly $700 with a discount, rotors can't be resurfaced since they are already under spec, will need new rotors.

New brakes and rotors and scraping noise still present. Comes and goes, doesn't sound horribly bad, just like maybe something is rubbing. No fluid leaks.

Take it back, they said they could fix it by doing your brakes..

Can't take it back, have to leave back for Georgia early tomorrow morning. When I get into town I'll have a shop look at it.
