Well, we did it. Me and my 64 Galaxie are officially one year away from the magic "50 year ownership" mark.
Quiet year. Bought new tires, changed oil, and attended car shows. Hit the 219,294 mileage mark. 220K is a definite maybe.
No trophies (that's fine with me), but the old Gal still draws her share of lookers. And, at this stage, that's what it's all about.
These are old links, but if anyone's interested, here they are:

Your car looks beautiful. I have a distinct fondness for that year. I had (2) white '66 country squires and a 70 galaxie... some of my favorite cars.

Heck, I'll turn 75 Jan 31st. The Gal could outlive me.
That's awesome. You should plan something special for that 50th.

Having the car for almost 50 years, or me turning 75, or both?

Built in 63, and so was I. I want to own a car of that era someday. Love the interior. Congrats!

In 1969, I was looking for a car for my wife. A Ford co-worker, Tommy L, told me about a Galaxie convert for sale. I bought it.
Yesterday, at a local HOT car show, a guy walks up to me and says "you still have it, don't you?"
It was Tommy L. Hadn't seen him since the early 70's, but he recognized the car and my name on the show info sheet.

I love those stories. Really makes it hit home when you see those folks.
I was at a show with the '63 a few weeks ago and ran into a guy that sold me a trans for it like 20 years ago. Similar story, "you still have it".
Reminders of more good times.

There is a house around the corner from me, that has a 64 convertible in the driveway for sale, price on the window is $5,000.00. Any interest?

I could take some pictures, I just remember it seemed to be all there, but is a project car. I thought it was over priced, but I don't know a lot about 64 Galaxy convertibles. P.S., it sits outside with the top down.

Congrats on a marriage made in heaven. I recall going with my dad to trade our '59 Fairlane 500 for a similar '60. Trips to the local dealers after that were with an odd collection of foster parents, mentors, friends of the family, the occasional relative, etc. I went to work for a Ford-Honda Dealer in 1973.

For as long as I remember that I've seen the car there.
