View Full Version : PCV valve under boost

Is there a bolt-in PCV valve for boosted applications for the 4.6L? I checked mine with compressed air and it indicates it will leak manifold pressure into the crankcase.

Edit: I guess this opens up the hole catch-can question also, but it would seem the one-way check valve requirement remains.

Would the EV111 be of any use on a Trilogy car? I would have thought if it was necessary it would have been included or at least recommended in the destructions...

Here is an interesting article (https://www.superchargerforums.com/threads/superchargers-and-crankcase-ventilation-how-to-breathe-when-youre-blown.2472/) clarifying how a boosted crankcase ventilation system should work. It looks like a second catch can is needed to clean the greeblies from what is normally the breather path to the air intake on a NA car. On a NA car the flow is into the crankcase only, on a boosted car when the PCV valve closes under boost this path evacuates the crankcase lightly. Don't see where makeup air refills the crankcase, but given the very light vacuum behind the air cleaner this may not be important.
