SYNC is Ford's Talking / Wfi version of their infotainment system.
Most every new Ford / Lincoln vehicle comes with SYNC. There is no fee to use it. However, your navigation may not have maps loaded. That may have a fee, or it may need a SD or USB card. In my 2011 MKS, it was loaded.
In my dad's 2014, it wasn't.

The sync in my 2011 is built into the car, no fee. But no navigation.
It doesn't have apps either, so if they do charge a fee, you could just use your telephone to do all the things sync does, and use your phone USB

Sync with navigation in our Lincoln MKZ is free, the navigation system has updates available yearly for $149 via SD memory card. We do not buy them. I have seen the updates on E-bay for less, but haven't purchased.

Just use your cell. If you keep it updated you'll have the latest information.
