Hi,
Do any of you do anything special when starting the car up for the 1st time after it was in storage for the winter? IE: turn off the fuel pump so you can turn the engine over to get the oil moving before actually starting it?

Thanks,
Joe

hold the gas pedal to floor while cranking, it will turn injectors off and not fire

I put Prolong in my motor and it has quieted a slight valve tick. Treats the metal as they say. Should cling through the dormant months. Plus synthetic oil.... You're good.

Definitely check the air box.

Pour a splash of oil in top of engine. Check air in tires. If you didn't treat the gas last year... I'd put Sea Foam or a gas treatment into the gas tank.

I also let the car idle and warm thoroughly before reving motor and driving, and when you drive it... drive really slow and easy for the first 2-4 miles... letting everything warm up. I like to then get three or four miles on freeway (without gunning it) to let the car settle in and burn off all the "sitting" gas in the fuel lines, filter, carbs, etc...

and then you are good to go.

I let Stick Vic sit outside, covered, for 5 months last year. Fired it up and you wouldn't have known it was sitting the entire winter. No oil starvation noises, clatter, whatever.

As such, this is my first winter leaving the Marauder unattended...used to start it once a month. Now I'm just waiting for spring to officially arrive and I'm gonna do what Zack said...
