I pulled the rear half of my interior apart a while back to install upgraded stereo speakers.

At the same time I installed LED bulbs in the CHMSL (3rd stop light) housing, to replace the old bulbs. Nice bright light, like them.

I've also done a window tint all around.

I listen to FM radio and there are a couple of very faint stations I can barely pick up at my location. Since this install, I lose any marginal FM signal when I step on the brakes. Apply brakes, lose station. Every time.

1. Is there any connection between the LEDs and the sensitivity of the back window antenna to brake application? If so, maybe I'll go back to bulbs.

2. I am looking at an antenna upgrade and haven't found much out there on the market. Most folks say the rear window antenna is about as good as you can find, unless you want to drill the bodywork and do a shark fin or a mast (I don't). Anybody out there with ideas for an upgrade?

Thanks guys, this forum is the best.

stock radio has common issue of losing fm signal. easiest upgrade is to the 05-07 ford escape audiophile unit.

it's an internal solder issue, not worth fixing . escape audiophile sounds better, looks factory, plug n play

I agree! either a escape audiophile or an aftermarket unit.
