Marty from MO's speed shop contacted me about a building a transmission for one of his customers that was having a supercharger installed on his Marauder. The guys a MO's removed the transmission from the car and I picked it up.

Got it the transmission apart for inspection and found worn intermediate clutches, overheated forward clutches and a burned OD band. The direct clutches appeared normal but the steel plates were severely heat damaged. The forward clutches were dark, worn and starting to show heat rings. The pressure regulator valve in the valve body was moderately worn.

Full rebuild was done with new seals, gaskets, frictions, seal plates and OD band. To handle the increased power of the supercharger, the one way mechanical diode is upgraded to a heavier unit that was factory installed on 2008 and newer transmissions and the factory snap ring is upgraded to an aftermarket spiral locking ring to prevent any failures. The stub shaft is upgraded to a piece made from 300M alloy, which will resist breakage. Lubrication modifications are performed to increase fluid flow to critical parts, which also reduces heat. New one piece output shaft teflon seals are installed, which reduce direct clutch pressure loss.

As part of the rebuild, the valve body was also updated with new Sonnax shift valves and new Tuff plate drilled to Jmod spec:

hole 1 - .160"
hole 2 - .113"
hole 3 - .180"
hole 4&5 - . 116"
hole 6 - .160"
hole 7 - .1015"
hole 8 - not used
hole 9&11 - .125"
hole 10 - .1015"

hole 4 in the gasket is enlarged to match the new hole size in the plate and Lt blue upper and purple lower 1-2 accumulator springs are installed to make the 1-2 shift crisp and consistent.

John was in need of a good rebuild. Looking forward to seeing it run after re-installation.

Had breakfast with 82dawgcrazy last weekend, he talked about the transmission rebuild and SC installation. Was going by Marty's afterwards. Pretty sure this was his transmission, from the problems he described to us and that you was doing the rebuild.

Wish you were in the northeast. I have used two transmission shops in my area over the years each were incompetent.

I'm 1 for 2 in that department. :(
