Getting a periodic whooshing sound when A/C is on. Doesn't sound normal. Thinking the A/C coolant level might be low and needs a re-charge. Am I thinking in the right direction?

Thanks :)

If the R134A is low you'd hear the compressor cycling on & off alot.

I've never heard of a whooshing sound before. Maybe debris caught in the system?

Maybe whooshing is the wrong term. Sucking air or pushing air. Is there away to measure how much A/C coolant is in the system w/o cycling it all out on an A/C recovery machine?

No, but a competent tech can put their gauges on the system and see if the pressures are correct.

This is typically what a tech would or should do:

Eric, when and where are you hearing this sound?

Sounds like its coming through the A/C vents, for sure in front of me when the A/C is on, driving. I should also preface this is in my DD not the MM. Just thought this might be a common A/C issue.

The only common "whooshing" sound I can think of is when the cowl and evaporator ducting get full of water due to a clogged drain flap just behind the passenger wheel-well liner. Had that on my 2000 GMQ.
