I have the 3.5 Eco in my current '15 F150 and had the same motor in my previous '11.
Both trucks accelerated almost as fast as the Marauder. I do not want to say as fast ... cause it is the marauder I am comparing it to. The biggest complaint folks have are the plugs ... some folks say you can run them the 100K Ford recommends, other folks are every 50K, and still others are every 15K. Me, I replaced them on the '11 at 65K and my current '15 only has 51K miles and the plugs are original.
I was never stranded in either truck.
If you need faster .. check out https://www.livernoismotorsports.com/product/LPP350101
Or www.shoforum.com. I was a member there for 7-8 years when I drove SHO's.

2010-12 was a front wheel drive biased system that will under steer and torque steer. A tune will help the power levels and they respond well to bolt ons but they are limited by the turbo size and fuel system, then the drive train. I had a 2010 SHO performance package for 3 years and the best MPG I could achieve was around 17-18 MPG. I'd try to find a 2013+ for the best drive train performance, but completely forget about the MPG they were rated.

Have a fleet of Taurus’s, well, only 15 or so, rest are Ford Explorer’s, had a 15’ explorer sport, have a 17’ expedition with that same
motor, the later models get way better fuel economy, the expedition gets 21+ on the highway, best I could get out of the sport was 17.
I personally hate those motors, we have seen..... bad water pumps, blown head gaskets, dropped valves in motors with miles from 22-90k, our “fleet” has 100k mile power train warranty, when that’s up and one of these problems pop up, it will go to govdeals.

Started with a black '90 and at 125K lost the rod bearings. No money, no understanding of what I had done, and the car was sold.
Then moved to a Moonlight blue MTX. Rod bearings at 121K :bigcry: :mad2::mad2::bigcry: Took a 3.2 from an ATX, dropped the 3.0 camshafts in it, and bolted that to the MTX. 14.9 in the 1/4 mile ... trapping 105-106 mph.
Bought my first SHO in '95/96 and left the scene in 2009 when I picked up my first Marauder.
Never felt like the 99's (or that body style) were a real SHO ... was not a true Yamaha engine any longer.

Did they have the 3.5 ecoboost motors in them or crappy 3.7 or the NA 3.5? The ecoboost motors are pretty stout little motors, and I see them lasting quite a bit on the ecoboost forums I participate in. I can not recall seeing any reported issues with the water pumps, head gaskets or anything else like that.

I just traded in my 13 SHO. It has 47k on it. That are asking 18.5k here in north east Ohio. https://www.sarchioneford.com/used-inventory/index.htm?compositeType=&normalBodyStyle=&make=Ford&model=Taurus&gvBodyStyle=&referrer=%2Fused-inventory%2Findex.htm&lastFacetInteracted=

I have A 2011 Lincoln MKS w. ECOBOOST
Same vehicle, But Lincoln.
You can probably find MKS' lower priced than Taurus'
So I purchased used. After 5 years and 52,000 miles of ownership.
New control arms and inner tie rods need replacing
Needs new tires - Over $1100 for Pilot ASW3+
Other than oil changes, that's it.

The problem children with the head gasket and valve issues were all 3.5 ecopoop motors, the rest of our junk is 3.7 NA motors, the worst that has happened to them are water pumps, check the book time out on those.
Keep in mind, these are police cars, they go from idle to WOT, many times a day, they have multiple drivers and are put to the test. This is the reason I always liked the Vic’s, they were almost indestructible. Your mileage may vary.
Wifey is driving a 17’ Expedition with a 3.5 eco, it will move out of it’s own way and, gets almost 22mpg on the highway, but unless some miracle happens, it will be gone after it’s 3/36, she can drive a Raptor or whatever I buy for her.
