Hey guys
2010 V6 Automatic Mustang with 58K miles, original transmission fluid.
My Sis-in-law backed out of the driveway this morning, and when she put it in drive, it did not move. She then tried reverse, drive etc and nothing but a revving motor. They pushed it to a curb and left it there.
I went over this evening to look at it. First, no dip stick on this year Mustang. No signs of leaks on the bottom of the motor, no fluids under the car. It physically shifts but will not go. I thought maybe the linkage had failed, so I was seeing if the car would hit the rev limiter that is found in park. It did while in Reverse and Drive. On my second attempt to hit the rev limiter the car moved!
I then took it for a drive around the neighborhood, and ran it through the gears. It starts as it should in 1, 2, 3, Drive and Reverse. There were no noticeable sounds.
I was told after the fact that the car made a whining sound most of yesterday when it was driven.
It will head to the shop tomorrow, but I am curious as to what could cause this? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Anthony
