Saw it in person at the Carlisle All Ford Nationals several years ago. It was in one of the Featured Display Buildings.

How can you see it and not unsee it?

I am old enough to remember the original 1958-1959 Edsels when they were introduced. At that time, I didn't like the design at all. However, now each year at Carlisle, I am fascinated by the line of 12-15 Edsels on the Showfield in all of their 2-tone and 3-tone glory. 60 years makes a big difference. The idea of a 2008 Edsel was quite interesting. I even got several pics of a 1 of a kind classic that year. It still looks like "A Ford sucking on a Lemon" ... but it's really looks like a new Edsel if they were still being made. Totally better than a CV Marauder Clone.

I remember seeing pictures of this car years ago...although I thought it was blue at the time. Either way, someone went to a lot of trouble and it looks like it's very well done.

Honestly, I've seen worse. The roof is a major error.
I was 15 when the Edsel was introduced. A major showroom was opened within walking distance of our neighborhood. My uncle (lived in another town) bought one. I think it was a 59.

Interesting, to say the least. What I would like to know is how/where he got the rear cover embossed...

There’s an ass for every seat.

I agree, and yet I can't help but think...
What a waste of time and money
Looks odd, but not good

What I would like to know is how/where he got the rear cover embossed...THAT is an excellent question. It would be nice to see if they could emboss "Marauder" on CV bumper covers, since real ones are like hen's teeth.

I agree. Creator gets an 'A' for imagination! My only complaint is it doesn't have a Terminator motor...

I’d drive it, 1 change, change out all the Edsel lettering to e a d.

I remember in a show and they featured the Edsel and compared the grille to a toilet seat. And it did not sell much when they were available.

Seems person forgot to replace the passenger door mirrow to a chrome one --drivers door has one???? Plus if you run that VIN it probably comes back as a Crown Vic--anyone do it yet?

Why couldn't they do an homage to the 1960 Edsel, the best looking year?
And who did this Ford or some aftermarket outfit? I'd rather they had done a 1958 turnpike cruiser

Plus if you run that VIN it probably comes back as a Crown Vic--anyone do it yet?Unfortunately the Ford ETIS site no longer gives detailed info, but it did say it's a Crown Victoria LX and the original colour was Smokestone.

You think that Marauder parts are hard to come by....
Imagine how hard it will be to get parts for a 2 car production run!
Especially that 'vagina' grille!
:hmmm: .... They probably didn't add a hood ornament because everyone would keep rubbing it.... :D

That's definitely gonna need a visit to the eyewash station. The only way to really underscore how fugly the Edsel truly was is this equally hideous tribute. I am sure this vehicle was best viewed from the bottom. I believe this Lincoln still steadfastly holds first place.

Only five months after opening day on March 1, 1958, the date when these photos were taken, the front windows of the showroom were lettered “1958 Edsels – Must Go By March 31st – Many Below Cost.” Seven months later the new 1959 Edsel models were introduced to the public on October 31, 1958.
