I Love these Classics. My brother had a 1965 Caliente that was a 289 ci, four barrel and Single exhaust. Unfortunately he totaled it after an elderly couple pulled out in front of him, while stationed at Ft. Polk, LA. The couple had no insurance.

I Love these Classics. My brother had a 1965 Caliente that was a 289 ci, four barrel and Single exhaust. Unfortunately he totaled it after an elderly couple pulled out in front of him, while stationed at Ft. Polk, LA. The couple had no insurance.

Imagine the following car with a white interior, nearly completely loaded with 289 2V C code motor. Grand dad sold it and turned in his license 2 years before I received my learner's permit. Bummer.

My very first car was a C code (200 hp) Fairlane sedan similar to the one depicted, right down to the hubcaps but the same color interior and exterior as my grand dad's Caliente. Not nearly as loaded either. I bought a 4v carb and matching manifold from a co-workers dad - found out later they were from a rare D code 1964 Mustang (210 hp). Everything bolted up, carb was rebuilt, changed fuel pump as was recommended and had dual exhaust installed. I was 'hot stuff'! In my mind anyway...how times have changed.
