Eric (88grandmarq) recently moved...he's not in Georgia anymore, but I'm not sure where he went. He has been posting on crownvic.news (the replacement for CVN, which has gone belly-up).
To answer the OP's question, yes the J-mod is still very much a thing and you would do well to get it done, either DIY or buy a completed valve-body from Eric.

His employer transferred him to Indiana as I recall - didn't realize he had already made the move. Read where he still responded to the North Georgia Transmissions facebook page and the United Panthers facebook page.
88grandmarq consulted with me and then consulted with MartyO prior to the modified valve body install (jmod) during the upgrade and tune at MartyO's shop back in August. Very pleased with the results.:coolman:

Those aren't Eric's. Darren runs BCA.
Eric's work is worth the wait. Give him time to reply.
I don't trust anyone else. Good and honest broker!

Did J-mod on trans 9/30/12. Took about 2.5 hours taking my time following instructions. After doing your 1st the job could be done in 1.5 hour, maybe even less.
Very easy simple mod any MM owner can do who has any mechanical aptitude.
I ordered a Racing HP 4R70W Super Tuf separator plate. It is thicker to prevent the cracking problem from being hammered by 1-2 actuator piston.
Cost:
$24 for separator plate
$4 for gasket 1
$3 for gasket 2
Filter Kit
10 qts ATF
This is a must do for performance car lovers and one of the cheapest mods!

Part #8SP ($24) ordered 3, showed up at my door in 2 weeks.
These instructions are spot on except for the location of the small plastic screen that falls out when valve body is removed. It goes in the RF corner, not RR as stated in instructions: http://www.crownvic.net/tech/4R70Wnotes.pdf (http://www.crownvic.net/tech/4R70Wnotes.pdf)
I drilled #7 to 1/8" also which was in the instructions for older transmissions.
I did the #10 for reverse as the gear delay with OEM drove me nuts.
Have fun, I enjoyed doing the procedure.
The results are great!

I collected the parts for my J-Mod. Used a predrilled Tuff Plate. If I did it again I'd definitely buy from 88grandmarq.
