I get that all the time. No matter what I do I can't get the whole car dry before some of it evaporates in the sun (no I have no shaded place to wash it).

I've found that Mother's Showtime Instant Detailer, or similar spray detailer, works really well. I just spray it on the surface where the spots are and then use a soft terry-cloth towel to wipe the spots away.

There are 2 kinds of water spots. I get those that form before I can leaf-blow dry the car and the others that are not a product of my washing the car and are, for lack of a better description, "etched" into the car.

The after-wash water spot I mist with clean water and blast with the leaf-blower. This is very effective it you have a well waxed car.

The "etched" spots I remove with a clay bar and rewax the area.

My MM is driven daily and never sees the inside of any shelter expect by accident. This time of year it rains for 15 minutes everyday. Waterspots are my constant and eternal nemisis.

Agent:

I had the same kind of spots on mine, either after a rain, or even right after a good wash...the only thing that seemed to work was VIGOROUS rubbing with a damp towel. It almost seems that it was some kind of interaction between the Zaino and the water around here... Sal Z. thought it might be mineral deposits and suggested using vinegar in the rinse water, but that didn't help. Out of desperation, I tried the Mother's wax I used to use on the T-bird, and now I don't have the problem anymore. If you ever find the solution, PLEASE let us all know...

Be very happy that you do not have our water!

Good ole Woodland water.

Water you can drink with a fork!

i have those etched spots too...drives me crazy. i just gave up hope and assumed they where there for life.

but for regular water spots i use the mr.clean auto dry...no spots at all (if done right). Some folks on here claim the soap they use eats away at the wax. i'm not sure about that but i do know that it saves me hours of drying time and with that time i can slap on about 3 more coats of wax.

John, which one were you using? I tried both Z-2 and Z-5, but they both just polished right over the spots, didn't affect them at all... :depress:

since I've been too scatterbrained to get the Mr. Clean set-up , I use a California Water Blade after washing to help prevent them.

I use the Mr. Clean system, and the California Water Blade (Just so I can polish faster).

Have been spotless since.

I've got a generic water blade, but it seems that these spots formed just from contact with water, not from the drying process...

fat: I'm not in any way trying to put down Zaino, but try using another wax, like Mothers, or Meguiar's...see if that clears up your "etched" spots, or at least keeps them from re-forming, like it did for me...(must be all the acid rain we get from the Midwest... )

Be careful with the California blade - I used mine last weekend and even though I keep it in my Rubbermaid box with nothing else but my drying chamois & towels, wash & rinse it before using it on my car, pray to the sun gods, hold my mouth just right, etc., I still got two small thin areas of linear surface scratches on the hood and it took forever to get them out.

I've never had that happen with a waterblade, but I can scratch the paint with my fingernail. And I know what you're thinking, I gave up coke

I think the key with using the water blade is having a good hand towel handy and wiping the blade off after each pass on the wet car. Our paint is not top quality so caution indeed is warranted. Black is also a showcase for any finish imperfection. I tell myself this after each black car I buy yet i still buy Black...go figure.

I swore I'd never do it again either, but it just looked so damn good...

Good idea on the towel to wipe the blade - I'll try that next time. Thanks

Thanks for all the feedback.
My water spots were caused by a mis guided sprinkler system that was pounding on the car for 2 days. So far they seem pretty stuck. But ill try a few things and let ya know what works

I got spots that bad on my truck when I parked too close to a sprinkler head at my in-laws condo.

I had to claybar them off. I could not wash them off.
