I was at a coffee shop yesterday with a friend and a few times this Mustang Cobra R was going up and down the street! They only made about 5000 of those right? It was black, I recognized it very quickly although I've only see a few pictures. Big wing, huge body kit.
It was slick, audible from a half a mile away. He was just tearin' up and down the open road in the pouring rain.
It was sweet either way, I thought it was really cool.
Anyone know anything about them? 5.4l and rare and a big wing...that's all I've gathered.

Ok, I'm going up there soon same time to check it out with a camera. I saw it...5 maybe 6 times (it was going back and forth down the road) I saw it once in the parking lot I was in while I was outside drinking coffee...probably 10 or 15 yards away. I FIRST saw it going the other direction than me...5 yards away.

You can order the Cobra R wing, hood, and body kit from various aftermarket companies.
'93 Cobra R's are red.
'95 Cobra R's are white.
'00 Cobra R's are Rio Red.
'93s have 5.0's/T5s with GT40 heads, Cobra intake, exhaust system, and special cam.
'95s have worked over EFI 5.8(351W)'s/T5's.
'00s have "stock" 5.4 DOHC "Lightning" motors minus the supercharger with T56's.

Well, either way, I couldn't chase him down to ask!
Which reminds me, I have an officer friend who I spoke with today...he told my mom "Well, your son wanted the blue strobes, but we can't give him that."
Maybe I'll chase him down next time with my mini red-blue-red LED mouth guard strobe...it was something I thought might come in handy. 1 on either side of the dash are very bright at night!
Or I could just do the hand motion to roll down his window.

May have been a black clone....My friend has a Red 1999 Mustang that has the full Cobra R body kit, look-a-like exhaust, and the 2000 Cobra R 18x9.5 rims... From a distance, it could have fooled me. Up close to see the difference but still looks good. All of the body parts are easily available.
But after all the body work, new hood, installing the wing, rims, other stuff, repainting the car, its a freaking V6 in his car. He has a 1999 Base Mustang V6. For the amount of money he put into makin it "LOOK" fast, he could have made it "GO" fast. I blew him away in my old 2002 Crown Vic!!!!

South Carolina still has it as a misdemenor, eh? So does Virginia. We'll catch
up with other states and make it a felony someday. :argue:

Hey, we can still set off fireworks and use radar detectors here....Do you guys require motorcyclists to wear helmets? Not here...such a lax place for laws. Although I love fireworks and radar detectors....
Have to have helmets.
No fireworks that fly.
And radar detectors are only illegal if you get caught with them in use or in close proximity to a power source.
Our worst law makes it illegal to walk up and smack somebody you don't like. That or killing them. :nono:
§ 46.2-1079. Radar detectors; demerit points not to be awarded.
A. It shall be unlawful for any person to operate a motor vehicle on the highways of the Commonwealth when such vehicle is equipped with any device or mechanism, passive or active, to detect or purposefully interfere with or diminish the measurement capabilities of any radar, laser, or other device or mechanism employed by law-enforcement personnel to measure the speed of motor vehicles on the highways of the Commonwealth for law-enforcement purposes. It shall be unlawful to use any such device or mechanism on any such motor vehicle on the highways. It shall be unlawful to sell any such device or mechanism in the Commonwealth. However, provisions of this section shall not apply to any receiver of radio waves utilized for lawful purposes to receive any signal from a frequency lawfully licensed by any state or federal agency.
This section shall not be construed to authorize the forfeiture to the Commonwealth of any such device or mechanism. Any such device or mechanism may be taken by the arresting officer if needed as evidence, and, when no longer needed, shall be returned to the person charged with a violation of this section, or at that person's request, and his expense, mailed to an address specified by him. Any unclaimed devices may be destroyed on court order after six months have elapsed from the final date for filing an appeal.
Except as provided in subsection B of this section, the presence of any such prohibited device or mechanism in or on a motor vehicle on the highways of the Commonwealth shall constitute prima facie evidence of the violation of this section. The Commonwealth need not prove that the device or mechanism in question was in an operative condition or being operated.
B. A person shall not be guilty of a violation of this section when the device or mechanism in question, at the time of the alleged offense, had no power source and was not readily accessible for use by the driver or any passenger in the vehicle.
C. This section shall not apply to motor vehicles owned by the Commonwealth or any political subdivision thereof and used by law-enforcement officers in their official duties, nor to the sale of any such device or mechanism to law-enforcement agencies for use in their official duties.
D. No demerit points shall be awarded by the Commissioner for violations of this section. Any demerit points awarded by the Commissioner prior to July 1, 1992, for any violation of this section shall be rescinded and the driving record of any person awarded demerit points for a violation of this section shall be amended to reflect such rescission.

It seems I recall something like ten years and $10,000. I wouldn't expect a local DA could be so anal as to call in the Feds though he might threaten it to get him to plead to the mis.
Editing now, I almost forgot. The SC legislature has an amendment to the statute pending senate action and signing by the guv. Didn't get the details tho. Maybe they're going to upgrade to a 20th century type law. I think this should be a felony in every state, 10y and $10k seems about right considering the gravity of such an offense.
This is definitely a BIG no-no, woaface. Lose the lights.

I got my a$$ reamed for turning on the lights of a police car I was test driving after a repair once. I was heading up to a busy traffic light and an ambulance on a call was coming up behind me so I stopped in the intersection and turned on the strobes so he could blast on through.
He went through alright, and I got an education. Just wanted to pass it along.
