"Dearborn is still mum on nearly every critical specification of its new GT500 other than these: it is Mustang based. It will feature a supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 cranking out at least 700 horsepower. And now, that this, the most powerful production car Ford has ever created, is governed to 180 mph.”

So the baddest Shelby ever to leave the ford camp is limited to 180 MPH....hell the 2014 was rated for over 200 MPH......what is ford saying to it potential buyers......

Ugly! The eye prefers curves to angles.

I realize the current trend for Autos is angles.

Can't wait until the trend goes back to curves.:D

It doesn't matter.....they'll be lined up ready to pay MSRP + $20,000 ADP*.

*ADP (Additional Dealer Profit) is the dealer reaming your bunghole....errrr.....
wallet for the privilege of buying a Shelby.

Some people do not care about the price, they just want to be the cool kid on the block with the latest toy. I had guys buying Raptors at $10k over when they first hit. I don't really question it if someone is willing to pay it but personally I would wait and let the fuss die down.

Then I refuse to buy one. My Smart car does 181 mph.

It’s probably a function of tire limitations and aerodynamics.

Top speed is totally irrelevant to how it handles the curves and the drag strip.

Ford does not need bragging rights on the top speed category since 99% of buyers will never even come close to it.
