Question Gents,
I am pulling a trans in a 03
Can you get the starter off without pulling the LT Headers? As well, can you leave the headers in and drop the trans straight down if there is no H pipe?
Just wondering for information before I go dropping this thing.
Would be nice to have an easy time doing so.

You can do both with Stainless Works headers

I hear the starter with Kooks is either no go or is very difficult..I have no direct experience
The starter will come out with either brand of headers.

Starter with Kooks is a PITA....
First ...good luck with the upper bolt...
Then: Flip it, turn it, twist it, spin it, bang it, drop it, and finally curse it.

The trans will come out with Kooks headers. The biggest issue is the starter. Make sure the battery is disconnected, remove the bolts to the starter and leave it between the block and the headers.

what joe said: curse, twist, pound, pry, cry & it pops right out

the top bolt is easy to remove, you use a small socket and a long extension, feed it above the starter and its the perfect length then clip the ratchet on it and remove it very easily. Its all in the feel can't see it.

I agree! But I still left mine out.
